After more than a year of consultation, pre-engineering and preparation, ABB Power Grids is proud to announce that the contract between ABB and Chint Solar Nederland for the construction of a 110 kV transformer station was signed shortly before the turn of the year. The solar park Midden-Groningen will be connected with the high voltage network through the 110 kV transformer station.

The solar plant will be connected to the 110 kV switching station of Tennet Kropswolde by a seven kilometer long cable connection. In addition to the engineering, supply and commissioning of the switchgear, transformer and control systems, the supply scope of ABB also consists of building the substation and the substation site layout.
The solar park will be realized by Chint Solar Nederland. With its 103 MWp it will be almost twice as large as the largest park in the Netherlands so far. The park covers an area of 117 hectares, this is as large as 160 football fields! Over 300.000 solar panels will provide approximately 32.000 households with energy. Construction has now started. From October 2019 onwards, the solar plant will start contributing to the climate targets and the reduction of CO2 emissions..
