ABB demonstrates cutting-edge robotics technologies that shape the Factory of the future on Mach Tech & Inno Tech 2019

ABB will present key robotic technologies portfolio and its unified cross-industry digital platform ABB Ability™ on MachTech & InnoTech Expo 2019.

The journey to the Factory of the future is on and ABB is here to show its advanced robotic technologies and solutions that will gain value for those ready to implement.  From April 15-18, Hall 3, Stand A9 at IEC will host the ABB robots IRB 120, IRB 1200 and the world’s first dual-arm collaborative robot YuMi, equipped to demonstrate their flexibility, reliability, and productivity.

IRB 120 and IRB 1200 make the robots in each production 15% smaller and 10% quicker. They are created for agile material handling, they have compact dimensions and short cycles and are easy to use. Their design allows them to be mounted almost anywhere, under any angle, with no limitations – in a cell, on a machine or in close proximity to other robots. Small little helpers that know how to make the job done.

YuMi is the first truly collaborative robot in the world, created by ABB to show what collaborative work between humans and robots look like. By combining people’s unique ability to adapt to change with a robot’s tireless endurance for precise, repetitive tasks, it is possible to automate the assembly of many types of products on the same line.

SafeMove2 - Protecting operators and enhancing robot safety

In order to be efficient robots must be able to move quickly, which makes them a potential hazard for people working in their vicinity. Historically, fences or cages have been used to separate man from the machine in an effort to keep them out of harm’s way. Since the factory of the future is smarter, ABB will demonstrate SafeMove2, a safety solution that provides greater flexibility, space savings, and cutting-edge commissioning tools for higher productivity at a lower total cost of investment. Thanks to SafeMove 2 the motion of the robot is precisely limited only to the necessary range for a certain operation.

ABB Ability™

ABB Ability™ is our unified, cross-industry digital offering — extending from device to edge to cloud — with devices, systems, solutions, services and a platform that enable our customers to know more, do more, do better, together. By connecting an ABB robot to ABB Ability Connected Services customers start unlocking advanced services for up to 25% fewer incidents and 60% faster response time and issue recovery.

“Factory of the future might be closer than many people think. By liking ABB’s proven portfolio of robots with the game-changing digital platform ABB AbilityTM, each factory can become smarter and more flexible. If we do this across the full cycle of activities in one factory, we’re having digital industrial production, capable to predict failures, to adjust performance and to deliver extraordinary value for all stakeholders” said Marcel van der Hoek, Country Managing Director of Bulgaria.
