Shaping leadership in industrial automation
Today is Innovation & Technology Day at ABB. For the first time ever, ABB has invited investors, journalists and customers to spend a day at its cutting-edge North American robotics factory in Auburn Hills, Michigan. There, at the epicenter of many of the company’s latest advances in industrial automation, the guests are being treated to presentations and tours by some of ABB’s top experts, who will provide an in-depth, interactive look at our pioneering and industry-leading technologies. The event will also highlight ABB’s expanding presence in the United States, the company’s largest market.
Innovation & Technology Day is being held instead of a Capital Markets Day in line with ABB’s focus on driving growth through market penetration, innovation and expansion. The emphasis on technology reflects ABB’s steady progress on operational excellence and shaping market-leading positions of its four divisions.
“Our market-leading robotics and industrial automation businesses hold immense strategic importance for our company, and hosting this event provides a chance for some of our most important stakeholders to touch and feel ABB directly,” said ABB CEO Ulrich Spiesshofer, who delivered the opening address. “Today they can interact with some of our most innovative technologies firsthand and see exactly how what we do works in the real world.”
The event spotlights the often overlooked fact that the United States is ABB’s largest market and a critical base for its own production and R&D activities. “We have a major presence here, with 20,000 employees and 60 manufacturing sites,” noted Spiesshofer. “We have invested around $11 billion in our operations in the U.S. since 2010, and we are working to strengthen market awareness here of our brand and our innovative technologies.”
