On April 18th 2019, Chinese Association of Automation (CAA) hosted the CAIAC 2019 (China Automation Industry Annual Conference) in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, rewarding the ABB Ability™ Electrical Distribution Control System (EDCS) as the ‘Most Valuable Solution of the Year’. The solution demonstrates ABB’s cutting-edge innovation, industry-leading technology as well as insight into smart power distribution.
The ABB Ability™ EDCS is an innovative solution that ‘puts distribution rooms into pockets’ by combining communication and gateway modules with traditional air circuit breakers. The platform monitors system status, energy consumption data and key temperatures to enable users to track the life cycle of their distribution equipment. It also provides users with maintenance suggestions, which help users to explore the value of energy consumption optimization and smart operation.

The theme of the 2019 CAIAC was ‘Revolutionize into the Future’. The conference explored how China’s automation industry can help revolutionize the manufacturing industry and its further development. The evaluation committee consisted of academics from Chinese Academy of Science, Chinese Academy of Engineering and industry experts. Together they evaluated the progress and highlights of the Chinese automation industry over the past year.
