The site will enhance Robotics picking and palletizing expertise with new demonstration, training and testing facilities, providing European customers an interactive opportunity to learn how ABB solutions can improve manufacturing efficiency and competiveness.

ABB today inaugurated a new Regional Application Center at the company’s Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) headquarters in Warsaw. The facility is part of ABB’s global network of five application centers that create innovative, tailored solutions to improve the productivity and manufacturing precision of European customers.

Since its inception, the center has continuously developed, adding robotics design, mechanical and development expertise to meet the growing demand for industrial robots in the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region. In 2016, CEE was the world’s fastest growing robotics market with 26 percent growth according to the International Federation of Robotics. Many of the tailored solutions created at ABB’s Regional Application Center have proven so effective and versatile that they’ve become part of ABB’s global portfolio.

ABB is one of the leading suppliers of industrial robots, robot software, equipment and complete application solutions in Poland. Today’s new Regional Application Center inauguration was attended by Swedish and Swiss Embassies, Ministries, University representatives, customer and partners.

“The increasing trend towards producing smaller lots of greater product and packaging variety and a rising safety focus are increasing automation complexity for many European manufacturers. Our customers are interested in exploring automation solutions which give them agility and flexibility to grow, while at the same time providing global manufacturing competitiveness,” said Sami Atiya, President of ABB’s Robotics and Motion division.

“Poland is one of Europe’s leading domestic and export food markets. Our Warsaw application center creates tailored solutions that increase food safety and hygiene, while also accelerating productivity and bringing new products to the market, faster.”

The facility features a new demo showroom where visitors can see firsthand how ABB's cutting edge technologies perform. Among these are RacerPack – a ready-to-install ultra-fast packing solution invented by the engineers of the Warsaw-based application center, and YuMi, ABB’s dual arm collaborative robot which works safely with humans without the need of barriers. The facility also showcases the ABB Ability platform, which helps ABB customers capture the full benefits of industrial digitalization.

A new training center will help customers develop their skills in programming and operating advanced robot solutions. The new test facility will simulate real manufacturing conditions, so that customers can run trials with robots before their installation.

“Robotics solutions make a big difference to manufacturing industries. Our new facility will let us increase our contribution to upgrading customers’ production capabilities, help them to meet high quality standards and become more competitive,” says Paweł Łojszczyk, Managing Director of ABB in Poland.ABB has been operating in Poland for more than 25 years and employs over 5000 people in 11 factories and 25 branch offices, supporting customers in the areas of electrification, power generation and automation, including robotics. Poland is also home to one of ABB's seven corporate research centers as well as the Global Business Services Center, a service organization supporting ABB's business units worldwide.
