ABB is introducing the next generation of automatic transfer switches (ATS), leveraging the best of GE Industrial Solutions and ABB technologies to increase system reliability, connectivity and ease of use. Upgrades to the Zenith ZTX and ZTG series from Industrial Solutions will feature ABB’s breakthrough TruONETM technology. The new ATS series, ranging from 30-1200 A and 200-480 Vac, will be available for order through ABB Empower starting August 1.

Travis Deutmeyer, Global Product Line Manager for ABB’s Transfer Switches, said: “Zenith and ABB have more than 150 years of combined experience in power switching. Leveraging the best of both portfolios, these new ABB Zenith solutions bring you next-generation technology designed to increase system reliability and connect you to more data with ease.”

Powered by ABB’s proven TruONE™ technology, the Zenith ZTX and ZTG series automatic transfer switches incorporate both the switch and controller in one seamless, self-contained unit. This reduces the number of wires and connections, provides up to 25 percent more space for wire bending in the enclosure, and minimizes the potential for connection failures. The design also incorporates smart modular components that help reduce downtime and service costs, by allowing controller and operating mechanism replacement in under 10 minutes.

An optimized interface now makes advanced control, connectivity, and energy management much easier. With embedded connectivity, an auto-configure function and a range of programming options, setting-up with the new Zenith ZTX and ZTG series takes a matter of minutes, not hours. With no wiring or calibration work required, the new ZTX and ZTG are a big step forward in terms of ease of use.

“This launch is the first example of how ABB is building a ‘Best of Both’ portfolio with the acquisition of GE Industrial Solutions,” says ABB’s Portfolio Transformation Lead – OEM & Critical Power, Amber Fleming. “We are combining the time-tested Zenith ATS family, which is known for reliability and performance, with the latest technology from ABB. Our commitment to innovation brings new life to the Zenith ZTX and ZTG series, saving costly commissioning time with the revolutionary auto configure function as well as faster and more versatile programming options. Our time studies with TruONE indicate that these could be by far the easiest ATS to commission.”

The new Zenith ZTG series can connect to the cloud-based ABB AbilityTM Electrical Distribution Control System (EDCS), making Zenith transfer switches compatible with other ABB devices. A market-leading plug-in communication module range is offered in seven different protocols, ensuring easy installation and connectivity now and far into the future.

ABB Zenith ATS solutions bring the highest level of convenience, efficiency, safety and critical power security to residential and commercial facilities and industrial complexes. For facilities managers and consulting engineers, Zenith ATS is the go-to enclosed solution for continuous power and time-saving innovations.
