Founded in 1994, ABB Shanghai Transformer Co., Ltd. is a joint venture between ABB and Shanghai Electric Group. It was the first ABB joint venture in Shanghai. The company specializes in the production of up to 35kV distribution transformers, including VCC dry-type distribution transformers, RESIBLOC ® dry-type distribution transformers, VPI dry-type distribution transformers and EcoDry transformers and TriDry transformers in China. These transformers, with no oil and therefore enhanced safety, are specifically suitable for dense urban areas, facilitating safe and reliable power to metropolises. With ABB’s global transformer design platforms and standards, the company provides tailor-made designs and solutions for customers in offshore wind, data center, semi-conductor, COG, rail, airport, building, crane, marine and VPI, with the commitment to provide more secure, reliable and eco-friendly power systems.

Zhang Jianhua, Head of Local Business Line Transformers and General Manager of ABB Shanghai Transformer Co., Ltd., said: “With great support of our partners like Shanghai Electric Group and our customers, we have participated dozens of key domestic power projects in China by providing reliable power supply, such as China’s first offshore wind farm in intertidal zones - the Rudong offshore wind project in Jiangsu Province, one of the world's highest-altitude civilian airport - DaoCheng Yading airport, and the world’s longest sea-crossing bridge - Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Now the company has become a market leader of dry-type distribution transformers in China. ”

ABB has more than 40 years of experiences in dry-type transformer. In the technology seminars, ABB brought the world’s first 66kV WindSTAR transformer, which has smaller size, fewer losses and stronger ability to handle extreme weathers. The event also displayed ABB’s first digital distribution transformer TXpert™, ABB’s first digitally enabled ABB Ability™ Power Transformer and CoreSense M10TM for smart substation.
