During this event, ABB launched the newest welding robot model IRB 1520ID. This is a high precision robotic arc welder, with integrated process dressing, combining 24/7 production output with 50% lower cost of maintenance to deliver the lowest cost per weld in its class.

ABB smallest robot IRB 120 was chosen to bring welding parts for the robot IRB1520ID to weld. These robots worked closely and effectively together in a high level of coordination which attracted a lot of interest from visitors.
The parts after being welded need to pass to grinding process to make the welded area flat and smooth. This task was handled by another robot named IRB2600 that holds a grinding tool to remove welding spatter and finish the welded surface. Manufacturers can improve productivity and finishing quality with an automatic after-welding process which is currently mostly done by human in Vietnam.

Besides, ABB also showcased another automation and motion technology which include motors, programmable logic controllers (PLC) and drives.
Mr. Eric Chan, ABB HCMC Branch Manager and Discrete Automation & Motion Division Manager, said "We aim at bringing ABB robotic solutions closer to the local market by introducing much more value-added robotic products which help manufacturers getting the most benefits and shortest payback time with the same investment cost".
