
Participating in the ceremony were Mr. JianPeng Fu - ABB Country Manager, Mrs. Nguyen Thu Giang - ABB HR Country Manager, Mrs. Tran Thi Phuong Thao - ABB Communications Country Manager, Doctor Nguyen Viet Son - Vice Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering, Doctor Nguyen Thi Lan Huong - Vice Dean of the School of Electrical Engineering,and Top 5 students of final round and other representatives from HUST and ABB.
This is the fourth year this program is implemented in Vietnam with scholarship offered to the HUST. Two students, Phan Thi Linh and Ho Trong Dat, both 3rd year students from the School of Electrical Engineering of HUST have been selected among a big number of applicants.
Started from 2007 by the ABB Group to honor our former chairman and CEO Jürgen Dormann, the JDF (Jürgen Dormann Foundation) aims at sponsoring brilliant students of academic institutions across the globe who comes from disadvantaged background, facilitating their study and helping them to achieve their dream in pursuing technical innovation.
The scholarship values at VND 18,000,000 for a student in his first year of selection. It will also cover a fee of VND 6,000,000 for each of them for computer equipment. Students will continue receiving the scholarship every year until their graduation subject on their good study scores. During their study, they will also be provided with help and vocational guidance by ABB mentors in Vietnam. In addition to this, they will have the opportunity to participate in international networking events sponsored by the ABB Group.
Speaking at the ceremony, the newly-awarded scholars expressed their happiness and promised to achieve the highest results in their study. With the hope to become excellent engineers in electrical and automation field, they also nuture a dream that they will be able to contribute to the development of Vietnam's industry in the future.
Mr. JianPeng Fu shared happiness with two students gained the award and for other students missed the chance in this year, he said that beside of JDF Scholarship Fund, ABB Group and ABB in Vietnamalso offer a lot of support programs for studying and working as ABB Internship for fresh gradutates or ABB Graduate Engineer Program for University graduates majored in the School of Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering and other relevant faculties.

On behalf of School of Electrical Engineering as well as HUST, Doctor Nguyen Viet Son thanked ABB for continuous cooperation and support extended to HUST.
The next scholarship program for the year 2014 - 2015 will be informed in next year, according to ABB in Vietnam.
