The seminar aimed to bring the information to the customers rather than the customers coming to ABB. This is a great example of the move towards a more proactive approach to service sales in Drives and control business unit. This move has been actively embraced in Vietnam.
The service seminar was greatly appreciated by the customers in the region that attracted a great number of attendees on the day and had some very senior people from the local organizations attended. These included customers from cement, oil & gas, metals, power generation, pulp & paper and many more. All of these segments are key targets in our business. There were presentations on new products such as Drive Care, Exchange Modules as well as the tried and tested preventive maintenance methodology. In addition, the engine unit had a presentation on Machsense Service. The presentations were all very well received and sparked some great discussions.
After the event, ABB had a tour to the local head quarter of an oil and gas customer and to meet their CEO. This meeting was to discuss an upcoming opportunities with partner in some Drive Services works on their off-shore platforms. This likelihood was greatly increased by the seminar. This just goes to show what can be done if ABB proactively gets out and about in front of our customers and shows what a great skill set and offering ABB has.
