Training and Cooperation Program between ABB in Vietnam and ABB Global

The main characters in our story today are four excellent employees who joined the Training and Cooperation Program of ABB in Vietnam from April to July 2015. Now let's hear their sharing of what they do and how they feel during the journey

The main characters in our story today are four excellent employees who joined the Training and Cooperation Program of ABB in Vietnam from April to July 2015, Mr. Do NgoVan - Steel Core foreman, Mr. Vinh NguyenDuc - Shearing team leader, Mr. Duong HoangVan - Active-part assembly team leader and Mr. Hoang NguyenDinh - Active-part assembly worker.

Currently, their main job is practicing several tasks such as coupling transformer beam, taking part in assembling and finishing transformer's active-part at Bad Honnef factory in ABB Germany. Besides, they have a chance to work on modern production line allowing improving productivity and product quality. Thereby, they can find opportunities to apply gained knowledge to improve the working process in factories of ABB in Vietnam.

Potential development at ABB in Vietnam

"Our SPT factory - the Power transformer factory in Vietnam has made several drastic changes over the years. There are the improvements on product quality, working attitude of all employees in our factory. Among them, the enhancements in capability and quality awareness of employees plays an important role in this development process" Said by SPT Manufacturing Manager - Mr. Cuong NguyenTien.

"Therefore, on that basis, ABB in Vietnam continues to prioritise on training and developing labour capability. In details, Company has been looking for co-operation programs in order to give employees an opportunity of ABB to work in modern factories with state-of-art working process and high productivity with the aim to learn and gain experience as well as support workforce for ABB in other countries. And Bad Honnef factory of ABB in Germany was the first destination in this program.

Valued experiences learned from ABB colleagues

Mr. Do NgoVan shares that this is a great opportunity when they work in an international environment with many colleagues and up-to-the-minute technology. Besides that, they work and experience in ABB Bad Honnef which is one of the most airy, enormous and spacious factories in Germany with many modern equipment and machines which they have worked with for the first time. Our German and international colleagues here are very passionate with agile, professional working style. Moreover, they strictly complies with safety rules, always put the product quality on top. He said "During the time working here, we have tried our best in our work as well as learning experience from colleagues." For them, those are worth learning not only for their own career development but also for ABB in Vietnam.

Far-from-home life at Bad Honnef factory of ABB Germany

After 1 month being there, everything is quite fine. They has caught up the work right since the first day. Although they were at fault in some initial days due to many changes in a different time zone, resting and eating habits, the guys still tried to arrange cooking by themselves for their home taste, appetite for ensuring health regardless of bustling work. They are aware of the importance of saving health to complete the job. An advantage is that the current weather there is the beginning of summer as temperatures soared from 12 to 25oC - such a perfect weather to work. Mr Do also shared some of his personal thoughts of work "We really like this country and the working environment here, but we also miss our family, our wives and our children…". However, this program is a great opportunity for them, therefore, they always put their best efforts for this.

Long-term cooperation in future

The Training and Cooperation Program of ABB in Vietnam received a good support from partners, and the initial results are quite positive. The program has a huge potential and the Company is also getting contacts to kick-off other similar programs in sending our designing people to work in ABB worldwide, as Mr. Cuong NguyenTien shared before.
