ABB in Vietnam launches the Safety Week commencing from 17 November

ABB in Vietnam officially launched the Safety Week in Hanoi.

The Safety Week is the first-ever global event of ABB Group and a part of its culture change activities in the Don't look the other way campaign. The Campaign was initiated in the early 2014 aiming at promoting employees asking questions and reporting concerns regarding Health & Safety and Integrity by spotting risks/red flag and prevent them from happening. The campaign is to re-affirm ABB's commitment to Health and Safety by a series of trainings on Safety provided to employees, intensive SOTs conducted by management and encouraging employees to personally proactive in strengthening ABB's Health and Safety performance. The Safety Week will be also launched in Bacninh branch, HCMC branch, Da nang office and Formosa project office with similar activities and trainings.

In the launching event for the Safety Week, Mr. Axel Kalt - Country Manager of ABB in Vietnam shared safety situation of ABB world-wide as well as ABB in Vietnam particularly. He emphasized that Safety and Integrity are foundation of global ABB and the value pairs that we define in our Next Level strategy.

"Safety is the license for ABB's operation; ABB wants its people to come to work and go home unharmed", he said. At his speech, he also called all ABB employees in Vietnam to contribute their part and take personal responsibility to preventing and resisting from unsafe behaviour, and lead strong health & safety culture in order to ensure safety at the work place and high standard working processes.

At the event, audiences had the opportunity to learn sharing of the three colleagues from three different divisions about the accidents they had. These accidents happened either while they were working at the Company or participating in the road traffic. They also shared about pains and loss that they have been suffering to date such as lost fingertip or damaged health. Sincere lessons learnt from accidents were also shared to the audience. After the sharing sessions, the event featured video clips conveying meaningful messages about the safety on the campaign. "Safety does not happen by accident. Work safely" is the message of the Group CEO, Urich Spiesshofer who with the EC, initiated the "Don't look the other way" Campaign.

Also at the event, Company announced the Country Safety Award. Following this announcement, Company will recognize contribution or successful initiatives for Safety of individual, team or project team in the first two quarters of the year 2015.

At the end of the event, all the ABB employees gathered below the big banner of the event to take large group photo to show the commitment to Safety.
