ABB at RMIT Technology Experience Day – Inspiration for future engineers

On Sunday September 7, 2014, ABB was invited as an honored industry leader to host a booth and a presentation session for the Technology Experience Day at RMIT. This event aims at unlocking high-school graduates’ passion for technology through exciting activities such as programming robots, developing an interactive game, exploring internal parts of a technology product and meeting industry representatives.

The Experience Day took place at the Southern Campus of RMIT Vietnam with approximately 200 high school fresh graduates together with their parents. At the event, Mr Duong TranDai - Ho Chi Minh Branch Manager delivered a brief presentation on ABB Group and ABB in Vietnam, our group structure, main business and career path for fresh graduated university students. The presentation draw much attention and interest of the participants, and in the Panel discussion followed later on, students raised their questions on the career potentiality and employment requirements of ABB for fresh graduates. After the presentation and panel discussion, students gained perspectives on the technology industry in general and ABB in particular, as well as learning about possibilities for their future career.

ABB booth was also enriched by a number of demos and materials contributed by DM, LP, PA, FES, HR and Communications. The demo that fascinated the students the most was the Robot from DM that can do painting. We hosted a small game in which students took picture with ABB robot, uploaded to their facebook page. The one who had most likes was granted with an ABB demo robot and a posture of his/herself drawn by our cute orange robot painter. Other demos that attracted participants very much were Energy efficiency demo (DM), Lift demo (DM), Door phone system (LP), Arc guard (LP), conveyor (DM) and other demos and brochures/leaflets sponsored by PA, FES, HR and Communications.

Even though the event was prepared under a short notice period of time and limited resources, thanks to the great cooperation from divisions, ABB had been highlighted as a leader in the industry, and somehow helped to inspire and motivate the very fresh high-school graduates to consider taking the pathway of a future engineer.

We are very excited to welcome the first batch of RMIT Engineering graduates in 2017. Hopefully they can be another potential talent pool for the next generations of ABBers.
