1. ABB Robot at Vietnam Manufacturing Expo 2013
On 4th - 6th September 2013 ABB Robotics participated in Vietnam Manufacturing Expo (VME) exhibition which is Vietnam's most comprehensive show for manufacturing and supporting industries at International Convention & Exhibition Ha Noi. VME was expected to help elevate Vietnam's industry to a new height of achievement.
During this event, Discrete Automation and Motion - Robotics introduced welding robot model IRB 1520ID. This is a high precision robotic arc welder, with integrated process dressing, combining 24/7 production output with 50% lower cost of maintenance to deliver the lowest cost per weld in its class.
Especially, there were total 3 ABB Robots from 3 different exhibitors showcased in this VME exhibition which helped increasing the popularity and wide coverage of ABB product. The other two ABB Robots is from the booths of our partners, CNC - Vina and Tan Phat Company. They exhibited the smallest robot of ABB - IRB 120, the smallest ever multipurpose industrial robot weighs just 25kg and can handle a pay-load of 3-4kg with a reach of 580mm. At the exhibition, IRB 120 was used for picking demonstration parts in the complex conveyor line system. The robot also integrated with a vision system to select the right products to pick and place.
The shows closed with success and were warmly welcomed by the total number of 13,614 local and international visitors. It enabled us to have a better view of market outlook in welding industry as well as metal fabrication. There were many visitors from decision-makers to engineers, consultants, technical students stopped by our booth with a huge interest on real welding demo of ABB Robot.
2. ABB Robotics - Discrete Automation and Motion joined METALEX 2013 for the 4th time with integrated welding technology and solutions for metal fabrication industry.
Following up the success of VME, from 10th to 12th October 2013, ABB Robotics joined METALEX exhibition, Vietnam's International Exhibition on Machine Tools & Metalworking Solutions for Production Upgrade at Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (S.E.C.C) in Ho Chi Minh City. In this event, we also presented a complete welding technology and solutions with IRB1520 ID Arc pack and ABB smallest robot IRB 120, which was chosen to bring welding parts for the robot IRB1520ID to weld. These robots worked closely and effectively together in a high level of coordination which attracted a lot of interest from visitors.
Another application which ABB Robot brought to welding industry in this exhibition is IRB2600 which is designed to increase productivity in machine tending, material handling, arc welding and other process applications. Manufacturers can improve productivity and finishing quality with an automatic after-welding process which is currently mostly done by human in Vietnam.

The applications that we will showcase will be a typical metal fabrication manufacturing where primary products are welded, polished and finally paint with our ABB robotics solution.
