ABB presents leading smart city solutions at World Industrial Internet Conference 2019

Insight into the future for innovative smart city development

From July 25 to 27, ABB’s Electrification business will present its leading, end-to-end smart city solutions at the World Industrial Internet Conference 2019 and China International Software Convergence & Innovation Expo in Qingdao.

At the event, ABB Electrification will showcase its latest innovations in safe, smart and sustainable electrification.

ABB believes that digitalization is at the core of successful smart city development. By 2020, it is expected that 33 billion terminal devices will be connected*, and communication costs will be further reduced. This enables installation of more equipment and sensors into buildings and promotes the digital transformation. In smart cities, ABB hopes to realize intelligent management of equipment, reduction of buildings’ energy consumption and a revolution in e-mobility through intelligent and interconnected solutions, so as to bring urban residents a more comfortable living and working experience.

James Zhao, lead business manager of ABB Electrification business said, “As a field closely related to everyone, smart cities is a key focus for ABB. Based on deep industry expertise and a broad product portfolio, ABB is committed to building business scenarios, expanding its business boundaries, and working with partners to create better solutions that meet the needs of top-level planning, intermediate architecture, and connected devices.”

From power distribution to consumption, ABB provides reliable support for various applications in smart cities. At the exhibition, five sectors including Smart Power, Smart Industrial Park, Smart Building, Smart Home and Smart Mobility show how ABB writes the future of smart cities through pioneering technologies and is therefore the partner of choice for smart city development.

Smart Power

ABB Ability™ Electrical Distribution Control System (EDCS), allows users to log in to access facility data anytime and anywhere via smartphones, tablets and PCs to easily achieve monitoring, optimization, control and predictive maintenance functions. It is estimated that the system can reduce operating costs by up to 30 percent. The system has been successfully applied at local factories, hospitals and museums.

Smart Industrial Parks

In smart parks, ABB AbilityTM Asset Health for electrical systems can connect such medium- and low-voltage switchgears as UniGear, and MNS Digital to obtain current status and trends information. Moreover, it can help customers check the health of equipment and predict the possibility of equipment failure based on cloud computing and big data analysis. Access to such data can effectively guide customers to optimize equipment condition, improving operation and maintenance efficiency by 40 percent and reducing outage losses by 30 percent.

Smart Home and Building

ABB’s i-HD intelligent home automation solution exhibited at the event integrates such systems as door entry, video surveillance and entrance and exit control as well as featuring scalability and connectivity. As an intelligent control platform, this solution can be used in both residential and commercial applications. Regardless of project size and transmission distance, it provides users with 24/7 security protection.

Smart Mobility

ABB is a global leader in e-mobility infrastructure, offering a full range of charging solutions for electric vehicles, with 11,000 DC fast chargers sold in 76 countries. ABB’s OppCharge technology, which enables fully automatic connection and charging of an e-bus in 3-6 minutes, is supporting a more sustainable public transport future. At the event, ABB will also showcase the 7KW AC wallbox, which boasts high cost performance, safety and reliability. It is designed for charging needs in residential and office areas and can also be customized for vehicle OEMs to promote future changes in mobility.

ABB is actively engaged in the digital transformation and is vigorously building an intelligent integrated digital marketing platform – mall.abb.com.cn. The platform integrates more than 60,000 ABB products and spare parts, covering more than 600 cities nationwide. It provides customers with comprehensive online selection and technical support, one-click shopping and fast delivery.

On July 26, as part of the Conference, ABB will hold a parallel forum, themed “Digitalization Empowers Smart Manufacturing, Smart City and Smart Energy”, where ABB’s Electrification business will share its digital expertise and successful applications in the field of smart cities to drive maturation of the smart city ecosystem and create more value for city operators and end users. Meanwhile, ABB’s Electrification business will hold a panel builder conference as a side event in Qingdao to explore new challenges and opportunities in the digital transformation together with partners.

As an industry event, World Industrial Internet Conference and China International Software Convergence & Innovation Expo focuses on innovative practice of industrial Internet and explores new paths for integration of artificial intelligence and high-end manufacturing. It has become a good platform for industry leaders and experts to communicate and cooperate. So far, four sessions of the event have been successfully held.
