ABB to recognise HVACR Rising Stars

ABB is once again taking the lead to promote and recognise the rising stars in the HVACR industry in Australia.

As a world-leading supplier of energy-efficient drives, motors, and building automation systems for the HVAC&R industry, ABB is pleased to be the sponsor of the 2017 HVACR Leadership Awards.

This is the third year in a row that the Industry Rising Star category has been sponsored by ABB and for the first time in 2017, it will be a dual award for male and female stars. The Rising Star Award category recognises young achievers under 35 years of age.

Importantly the HVACR Leadership Awards program helps to focus the spotlight on the exceptional people and industry trends such as digitalisation that are making a positive impact within the HVAC&R industry.

ABB is at the forefront of connecting our customers to the power of the Internet of Things to deliver them a range of competitive advantages. These include improving data analysis for enhanced reliability by using information from ABB's intelligent drives to provide the earliest possible indication of potential problems faster and help building operators to optimise their facilities.

ABB local business unit manager for drives, Michael Briggs, said the company believes it is important to recognise the achievements of upcoming talent within the industry.

"The rising stars coming up through the ranks today will inevitably become the leaders of the HVAC&R industry tomorrow who will increasingly utilise technology for smarter, greener living," said Michael. "Recognising the achievements of these talented young people is an investment in the future of our industry."

ABB can tailor a complete building automation solution, connecting hundreds or even thousands of devices to work in concert for extra efficiency gains, such as combining window shades and heating/cooling systems for improved temperature management. By constantly adjusting the energy consumption to exact demand, our automation solutions help provide energy savings.

Nuturing young talent

"Recognising and rewarding excellence is very much aligned to the ABB's values - it is an investment not only in the future success of our company but also the industry as a whole," Michael added. "And with more women working in HVAC&R it's important to put the spotlight on both young men and women who are achieving great things in our industry."

ABB is nurturing the talents of young Australians in many ways. ABB's Graduate Engineering Program has been running for more than 10 years in Australia. The program provides graduate engineers with the opportunity to experience three six-month rotations across ABB's businesses, with one of those rotations taking place overseas.

ABB is also committed to supporting the development of young Indigenous Australians, through the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME). AIME is a mentoring and educational program that provides Indigenous high school students with the skills and opportunities to finish school and transition into university, training or employment at the same rate as all Australians.
