ABB Graduate Program developing future engineering leaders

Extensive learning and travel opportunities will expand career horizons for graduates

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, announces its call for applications from highly motivated and adaptable engineering graduates to join its 2013 Graduate Program. The program has extensive travel opportunities and is designed to give graduates a broad range of experiences and a good foundation in areas from engineering design to commissioning and service activities. A strong focus of this program is to develop the future leaders of ABB.

"The high demand for skills, driven by the rapid growth of the resources and renewable energy sectors, makes it essential that we continue to invest in programs to develop the engineering leaders of the future,' said Axel Kuhr, country manager for ABB in Australia. "Companies such as Western Power, Rio Tinto and Queensland Gas Company rely on ABB's technology to increase the production capacity and energy efficiency of their projects. Our graduate program ensures ABB maintains its position as a leading engineering solutions provider."

ABB's Graduate Program is two-years of specifically designed assignments to give graduates a broad range of experiences and a good foundation in a range of engineering and business areas. The program provides an exciting opportunity for Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical and Mechatronics graduates to join a global company, and experience a four month overseas rotation towards the end of their intensive program. In 2012, our graduates worked on projects in Finland, Italy, Singapore and the United Kingdom and United States of America.

Rod Bush, human resources manager for ABB in Australia said, "Our successful program began in 2005, and includes possible interstate relocation with excellent learning and development opportunities. Leadership and mentoring programs, together with invaluable first-hand industry exposure and training, form an important part of the program."

The successful candidates will be provided training throughout their time with ABB. Graduates will also attend business related training courses including time management, safety, presentation delivery, leadership skills and product training on leading-edge technologies.

Successful graduates in the disciplines of Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical and Mechatronics must be Australian Citizens, New Zealanders or have permanent residency and have demonstrated leadership, teamwork and collaboration abilities, be adaptable to change and display excellent communication skills.
