At the Industrial Transformation Asia Pacific (ITAP) event, taking place from October 22 to 24 in Singapore, ABB will showcase technologies and innovations for the digital transformation of cities, factories, and industries. Powered by ABB Ability™, the company’s unified, cross-industry digital plat-form, ABB will demonstrate how its technology and deep industry expertise help companies to increase productivity, enhance operational efficiency, and improve safety and security.
ITAP, a Hannover Messe event, is Asia-Pacific’s leading trade show and conference for Industry 4.0. At the opening ceremony, ABB’s industrial robots will take center-stage alongside performance artists to narrate the evolution of industry throughout the ages, dramatizing the possibilities of human-robot collaboration.
Peter Terwiesch, President, Industrial Automation and Member of ABB’s Group Executive Committee, will deliver a keynote speech at the Future of Manufacturing CXO Summit, ITAP’s thought-leadership platform. “Industrial automation is at the heart of Industry 4.0, advanced manufacturing and smart infrastructure. We help our customers to shape their industrial transformation through a broad range of digital technologies and automation solutions that increase the safety, productivity, and energy efficiency of their operations. Adoption of these new technologies offers a tremendous opportunity to further accelerate progress and growth across Asia Pacific,” he said.
Showcasing customer value in the digital age
Focusing on practical applications of Industry 4.0, ABB is conducting a workshop called ‘Creating the winning formula for digitalization,’ in which participants will learn about the importance of and how to increase agility and collaboration in their digitalization journey. ABB subject matter experts will present digital services and tools at four “Sandbox Sessions” demonstrating solutions that transform the way we produce, work and live.
As industries and operations enter the digital future, success means moving from ‘hype’ to ‘how’. Through its ‘Make it Real’ Tech Talks in the exhibition booth, ABB experts will share insights on how its technologies help customers grow their business and discover value in digitalization.
“ABB has strong local capabilities to meet customer needs for IoT solutions, while aligning with the government’s efforts to digitally transform key sectors. No matter the company size, ABB can help customers improve business through digitalization, while reducing the impact to the environment,” said Johan de Villiers, Managing Director, ABB in Singapore.
Product innovations to enable the future of factories, cities, and industries
For the first time in Southeast Asia, ABB Robotics will unveil its single-arm YuMi® collaborative robot. Building on the success of YuMi®, the world’s first truly collaborative, dual-arm industrial robot, the new robot has a payload of 500 grams and, thanks to its compactness, is easily integrated into existing assembly lines. The new robot features lead-through programming, eliminating the need for specialized training for operators.
In addition, ABB will introduce its invert-mounted IRB 910INV SCARA robot, the latest addition to its popular SCARA family. By mounting the robot on the ceiling, manufacturers can increase space efficiency and improve flexibility of each cell to do more complex tasks in confined spaces. The ceiling mounting also allows the IRB 910INV to collaborate with other robots and machines in the same foot-print.
Designed to meet the demands of an increasingly connected and sustainable society, ABB’s DC Wall-box for electric vehicle (EV) charging, now available for the Asian market, provides the ideal solution for charging EVs at offices, dealerships, and public parking places. The compact DC Wallbox benefits from a maximum current of 60A delivering 24 kW peak power directly to the vehicle’s battery, allowing for a shorter charging time than the typical on-board converters, usually rated between 3 to 7 kW.
Visitors can also witness the global debut of a new augmented reality tool, ABB Ability™ Remote In-sights for service, that will help customers to speed up response times, extend asset lifecycles, improve process performance and reduce maintenance costs by transforming the way maintenance is performed.
Other highlights at the ABB stand (Hall 2, booth# 2K18) include ABB Ability™ Collaborative Opera-tions™, ACOPOStrak – a highly flexible transport system for adaptive, connected manufacturing, an award-winning non-invasive temperature sensor, ABB Ability™ Digital Powertrain, ABB Ability™ Augmented Field Procedures demonstrated through a Lego model of a gas plant, as well as the chance to enjoy a thrilling ride on the ABB Formula E racing car simulator.
