On May 29th, ABB hosted a product launch event in Chengdu, Sichuan Province of China, focusing on digital-led transformation through ABB AbilityTM, ABB's unified, cross-industry digital offering.
Tarak Mehta, president of Electrification Products division had in-depth discussions with customers, partners and media on China's Western development strategy and the total electrification solutions available to support industrial upgrading and transformation brought by China's supply-side reform.
The ABB AbilityTM power distribution and building automation solutions unveiled at the event showcase ABB's technical advantage and deep expertise in industrial digitalization. These solutions will help promote the intelligent upgrading of all segments and facilitate the transformation of China's economy from quantity to quality development.
Tarak Mehta said: "No matter the location, digital technologies represented by big data, cloud computing and Internet of Things are driving the transformation of multiple sectors. Our ABB AbilityTM portfolio of intelligent solutions and services puts us in a unique position; to be able to support this digital upgrade, whether for Chinese infrastructure or industry. We are delighted to have this opportunity to showcase our comprehensive offering and how we can support the objectives of China's Western development strategy."
Sichuan Province has a solid foundation in power, industry, transport and infrastructure. It comprises a large number of heavy-asset enterprises, which are facing a great challenge in cost effectively transforming to high-tech and high value-added industries, using existing resources and achieving high-quality and sustainable development.
The various digital solutions unveiled by ABB in Chengdu meet all of these needs. For example, the ABB Ability™ distribution system asset health management solution, which can transform the management of mid- and low-voltage intelligent switch devices.
Based on ABB Ability™ cloud technology, it can connect the real-time state information of the switch devices such as iUniGear, iVD4, MNS Digital, and thus help customers monitor the health of the equipment and predict the possibility of failure.
Furthermore, by realizing the intelligent transformation from passive prevention to active prediction it can guide customers to optimize any underperforming equipment, improving operation and maintenance efficiency by 40 percent and reducing outage costs by 30 percent.
In addition, ABB AbilityTM electrical distribution control system (EDCS) is designed to monitor, optimize and control electrical systems to help users optimize electricity efficiency and save 30 percent of energy expenses.
In order to build a smarter and more sustainable Sichuan, ABB also presented its innovative achievements in the fields of new energy and building automation. In electric vehicle infrastructure, the Terra63 Z DC charger meets the latest national standard for charging interface, with an output power of 60 kW, which can realize 30 percent to 80 percent power charging for electric vehicles in 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, in the photovoltaic industry, the PVS-60-TL inverter, featuring high safety and reliability, has a MTBF of up to 300,000 hours in 40℃ temperature. Its maximum efficiency is as high as 98.7 percent, maximizing ROI.
Finally, in building automation, ABB's intelligent building solutions for residential and hotel installations enable the monitoring and control of a wide range of terminal electrical devices, reduce energy consumption and cut management costs while better optimizing the installation efficiency of installation products, such as 'customized bus duct' and 'smart cable ties'.
ABB launched a branch in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province in 1997 to strengthen its local business penetration. In 2014, ABB set up a service center in Chengdu to better serve local customers in power, rail transit, petrochemical, electronics and manufacturing industries. In 2015, in line with ABB's Next Level Strategy, ABB positioned Sichuan as the hub for the company's growth in and development of West China. Over years of development, ABB has participated in the construction of many local projects, such as Shuangliu International Airport, Chengdu Metro, Sichuan Museum, Chengdu Back-up Center of CPIC and Dujiangyan Water Plant.
