Beijing, October 28, 2011- ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, announced today that its Welcome-8 door entry system was named one of the "Top 10 brands in China's security industry 2011" by Security & Automation magazine. The system featuring stability, safety, leading-edge technology, graceful appearance and rigorous workmanship can better meet demands of intelligent building door entry systems in security market and facilitate technology evolution in relevant industries in China.

Ted Hong, general manager of ABB Genway Xiamen Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd. said, "ABB is a leader in intelligent building control system technology and market and a major player in security industry. This award for Welcome-8 Series demonstrates that ABB's security technology is highly recognized by the market. We will continue to introduce and localize cutting-edge technologies in order to deliver perfect solutions for smart community initiatives in China and make it possible for consumers to experience the proposition 'ABB, always there for you'."

Welcome-8 door entry system, the representative of ABB's smart community solutions, entered Chinese market at the end of 2010. To date, ABB has introduced Welcome-8 and Genway Series door entry systems, i-bus® integrated intelligent building control system, and electric wiring accessories in China. Those products could be combined into the complete smart home solution to accommodate demands of high- and medium-end customers.

ABB also provides new options to deliver higher value to customers of Welcome-8 Series door entry system. The outdoor station for villa is especially designed for villa communities. UPS power supply ensures that the system could still function well even if an outage happens. New stand-alone card readers provide hardware support for card reading solutions, significantly improving security of community access control. Those options will be showcased at China Public Security Expo during October 29 to November 1.

ABB's Welcome-8 Series suitable for different kinds of residence communities features industry-leading dual-channel and audio/video technologies, delivering such functions as video talking, multi-channel communication, home-to-home calls, billboard and alarm interlinking. The cabling system using Cat.5 cable combined with RJ45 male connectors saves 70 percent BOM (Bill Of Materials) cost compared to other wiring solutions such as coaxial cable +RVV. The RJ45 female connector enabling plug & play significantly improves installation efficiency and reduces labor cost. Through "push to set" option, the system will be connected to control center automatically and users can set parameters just by pushing a button. Furthermore, the system featuring lightening protection and ESD design can effectively avoid lightening damage. If an individual device fails during operation, the trouble spot can be precisely isolated by automatic monitoring, ensuring fast recovery.

ABB entered China's building automation industry at the end of 2009 and established ABB Genway Xiamen for production of a full range of leading-edge smart home products including building automation system, network/non-network system for multi-apartment, door entry kits and access control devices. Over years, ABB has always been committed to introduction and local R&D of cutting-edge technologies, which may be evidenced by inauguration of the global center of excellence for intelligent door entry systems at ABB Genway Xiamen, which is dedicated to introduction and development of the state-of-the-art technologies.
