Hangzhou, February 4, 2015 - At the recently held Alibaba Industrial Product Supplier Conference 2014, the world's leading power and automation technology group ABB was awarded "The Best Branded Cooperative Store of Alibaba 2014". This is the 2nd consecutive year ABB has received the honor, demonstrating ABB's outstanding performance in the field of e-commerce.
Among the forerunners in Chinese electrical industry to pursue e-commerce, ABB launched its first online flagship store in 2010, showcasing ABB low voltage products on Tmall (formerly "Taobao Mall"). The store provided consumers with seven types of electrical products including switches, sockets, miniature circuit breakers, residual current devices, enclosures, relays and pilot devices. Two years later, ABB opened an official flagship store on Alibaba and entered the Alibaba industrial brand mall. Now, the whole series of ABB low voltage products and some ABB medium voltage products - nearly 20,000 different products in all - are sold through these online stores.
While carrying out B2B and B2C businesses through ABB's online flagship stores and authorized dealers, ABB is also actively expanding its presence in new e-commerce areas. In September 2014, ABB opened its first O2O (online-to-offline marketing model) electrical product intelligent experience center in Nantong city, enabling online users to experience ABB's efficient and reliable products and technologies in person.
As e-commerce continues to develop, the line between information and physical objects fades and the link between online and offline grows stronger. The O2O model combines online business opportunities and physical stores, achieving a perfect balance between e-commerce and the real world. This will promote further development in e-commerce.
Mr. Poh cheng Gay, Senior Vice President of ABB (China) Limited and head of ABB China's Low Voltage Products Division, said: "Innovation is ingrained in the DNA of ABB. It exists not only in the technology research and development, but also in the breakthrough of business models. While enhancing online users' interactive experience, the establishment of ABB's first O2O experience center also creates a new area of e-commerce growth. In the future, ABB will work closely with its partners to take the development of the e-commerce business to the Next Level."
To further impulse the e-commerce business, ABB set up a special team in July 2014 responsible for developing and operating its businesses on China's e-commerce platforms. With reliable product quality and thoughtful services, ABB continues to win the trust of more online customers. In 2014, ABB's e-commerce sales in China grew more than fivefold, with users from 350 cities across China.
ABB (www.abb.com) is a leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility, industry, and transport and infrastructure customers to improve performance while lowering environmental impact.
