Beijing, June 4, 2012 -- ABB recently introduced its new FORMULA molded case circuit breakers in China. With extensive options, a small footprint, and high efficiency, FORMULA provides reliable, secure, and quality electricity protection for the building and automation communities, setting a new standard in the local low-voltage electric industry.
Ms. Huang Jing, head of marketing and sales, Low Voltage Products Division, ABB China, said, "FORMULA combines simplicity and quality in a single product. Its debut in China further complements the product portfolio of ABB's low voltage business and consolidates its leading position in the local circuit breaker market. We believe that FORMULA will bring users a new experience and guarantee a safe and efficient power supply when combined with ABB's low voltage solutions."
As the core of a low-voltage distribution system, a molded case circuit breaker provides reliable protection for the distribution system and its lines. FORMULA is a utility-type series of circuit breakers with 10-50kA breaking capacity, suitable for conventional building power distribution applications and the OEM machinery industry. All members of the new product family are equipped with a front access wiring terminal to ensure isolation. It can be used without any derating at a temperature below 50℃. Its compact design makes it possible to allow only 60MM depth for a 250A current, to optimize cabinet layout and reduce overall costs. Moreover, the series is RoHS compliant.
One of ABB's product innovations based on its decades of expertise in circuit breakers, FORMULA features an overall shaftless design and internationally leading technologies, delivers precision size control for each part and 100 percent seamless coordination, and adopts an innovative spherical design for its moving contacts to achieve faster breaking of short-circuit currents. ABB's special thermosetting gas production materials are chosen for the interrupter to realize faster extinction of arcs and reliable breaking of short-circuit currents. The circuit breaker comes complete with a rotating elongated handle made of a hollow aluminum pole for the first time ever to reduce the failure rate. Additionally, before shipment, it has to survive routine magnetic tripping tests on a cutting-edge high-speed constant-current source, under high-precision IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor) control that ensures its functionality.
