Chongqing, June 3, 2015 - At the seventh ABB Automation World launched today in Chongqing, ABB, the world's leading power and automation technology group, comprehensively displayedits latest automation products, technologies and solutions, including YuMi - the two-arm collaborative robot, the PMCS integrated energy management system, M2SE series three-phase asynchronous motors, Terra 53Zelectric vehicle charger, Azipod D green marine electric propulsion system, and the"i-jia" wireless smart home system, thus highlighting ABB's R&D strength and leading industry position in the field of automation.

With China's economic growth entering into the "new normal", the country is increasingly promotingindustrial restructuring and upgrading. This year, government released the "Made in China 2025" strategic planto help the manufacturing sector grow from big to strong, enabling China to enter the ranks of the world's strongest manufacturing countries by 2049 through a three-stepstrategy. ABB's smart technologies and solutionsfit perfectly with the development of the ten key areas listed in the "Made in China 2025" plan, such as industrial robots, marine engineering equipment and high-tech ships, advanced rail transportation equipment, energy-saving and new energy vehicles, andelectric power equipment.

Ulrich Spiesshofer, CEO of ABB Group, said:"As a global leader in power and automation, ABB has the comprehensive smart technologies to support the transition of China's manufacturing industry from big to strong. With the big trend in Internet of Things, Services and People, ABB will continue to leverage its technological advantages and global experience to support Chinese customers in the fields of utility, industry, transportation and infrastructure to enhanceproductivity, lower energy consumption and to decouple economic growth from environmental impact. Our Next Level strategy will focus on actions centered on accelerating ABB's growth momentum in China."

Within smart manufacturing, human-robot collaboration has become the development trend forindustrial robots. At Automation World 2015, the YuMi human-robot collaborativeassembly workstation perfectly displayshow workers and robots can work side by side tocomplete assembly work together both efficiently and accurately. As the world'sfirst two-arm industrial robot, YuMi is capable of safely working alongside with humans, thus ushering in a new era of collaborative robotics. It satisfies the needs of China's consumer electronics manufacturing industry forflexible manufacturing and will be gradually applied innewmarket areas, bringing small-part assembly and other automation applications into a new era.

The construction of "A Beautiful China"is inseparable from energy savingand emission reduction. The integrated energy management system, PMCS, showcased at Automation World 2015 helps users trackstatistics of their total energy consumption, categorized energy consumption and target energy consumption. PMCS can alsocomprehensively analyze user's energy efficiency and take appropriate actions to improve it, thus easily achieving consumption control targets. At the same time, it can handle the centralized management and control of distributed energy and energy storage systems to achieve the peak load shifting.

Additionally, ABB's high-efficient motors and drivescan help customers reduce energy consumption and achieve a win-winonboth environmental protection and economic fronts. The M2SE seriesthree-phase induction motorsexhibited by ABB comply with China's Class 3energy efficiency standard and have outstanding energy-saving capabilities. In order to supportthe development trend of the Internet industry, ABB has designed a wireless connection between industrial drives and smartphone apps to enableservice engineers to achieveremote maintenance and management of theequipment.

Electric vehicles (EV) are the futureof the automobile industry. ABB's first general-type, high-power DC fast charger, Terra 53 Z, compliant with China's EV charging interface standard,is also exhibitedat Automation World 2015. The rated power of the DC fast charger is 50 kW. The electricity provided through 20 minutes of charging is enough to enablea regular household EV to run 100 km. Through its leading, comprehensive DC charging solutions, ABB actively supports the improvement of China's charging infrastructure and the developmentEV, thus promotingthe development of sustainabletransportationin China.

Green and environment-friendly electric propulsion systems also havegreat potential in the shipbuilding industry. In March 2015, ABB releaseda new addition to its line of Azipod® electric propulsion offering- the Azipod® D, which features excellent functionality, a very competitive investment cost, ease of maintenance and significantly improved performance over mechanical propellers. By reducing maintenance costs and fuel consumption, ABB Azipod® electric propulsion technology can helpshipowners and operators to improve the profitability of ships. Currently, this technology is widely used in China's passenger ships, ocean research vessels, and ocean surveillance ships, among various types of ships.

Technological advancements have also contributed to the development of smart homes, buildings and cities. The "i-jia" and "e-jia" smart home solutionslaunched by ABB in 2014as well as i-bus intelligent building control systemare now being more frequentlyapplied in commercial buildings and municipal projects. The "i-jia" series of solutions was developed locally by ABB China's R&D team especially for the Chinese market and meets the demand for a more environmentally friendly, more convenient, and higher-quality life. The ease of installation makes smart homes more accessible to common people. With smartphone apps, users can achieveremote control of home lighting, curtains, socket outlets and other IR-controlled electrical appliances - making yourhome easyto reach, no matter where you are.

In addition to its automation products and technologies, ABB's leading electrical technologies and solutionsare also showcased at ABB Automation World 2015, such as HVDC, micro-grid, power quality, renewable energy development, transmission and distribution, highlighting ABB'sleading technology position in the power field.

As the only municipality in western China, Chongqing is one of China's important economic centers and transportation hubs and also a new bridgehead in Eurasia. With the deepening of the Western Development strategyand the introduction of the "One Belt and One Road" national strategy, western areas like Chongqing are ushering in rapid development in the fields of utility, industry, transport and infrastructure, with great market potentials. ABB'ssmart technology has been widely used in many projects in Chongqing, such as theChongqing Jiangbei International Airport, Chongqing Wanzhou Power Plant, Chongqing Nanchuan Stadium, as well as the new Chang'an Ford factory in Chongqing.

In Chongqing, ABB has two factories;ABB Transformer Co., Ltd. and Chongqing ABB Jiangjin Turbo Systems Co., Ltd. ABB also has a comprehensive regional service center, an engineering center, and a complete sales and service network in the city. Among these facilities, Chongqing ABB Transformer Co., Ltd., founded in 1998, has an advanced engineering and R&D team and is ABB's global transformer production base and design center. It is also Asia's largest insulator manufacturing center. ABB Jiangjin Turbo Systems Co., Ltd., established in 2006, is one of ABB'sturbocharger production bases worldwide and has set up service stations in major Chinese coastal port cities. These facilities employ more than 1,000 staff.

Meanwhile at this year's Automation world, ABB donated 1 million yuan to the ABB-New Great Wall Fund for College Students. It is the 11th consecutive year for ABB to finance college students majoring in power and automation to complete their studies. The total amount ABB has donated to this initiative has reached 12 million yuan, benefiting more than 2,000 students from 44 universities in China.

With the theme of "Smart Technology, Intelligent Upgrading", ABB Automation World 2015 includes theme forums, industry forums, technical seminars, and product and technology exhibitions. The event has attracted more than 3,500 industry experts and customers. As ABB's largest annual customer activity inChina, the ABB Automation World has been successfully heldin Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou for six consecutive years. This yearmarksthe first time that an annual ABB event has been held in a western Chinese city.
