ABB was a finalist in the award for Inclusion and Diversity Company of the Year at the ADIPEC gala dinner at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi earlier this week. ABB was shortlisted for its approach to diversity across the key pillars of talent and career lifecycles, female mentoring programs, future talent pools, and flexible working practices that support a diverse and inclusive culture.
“As a global business with over 125 years of history, diversity is part of our DNA and is recognized by our leaders as critical to our success,” said Kevin Kosisko, Managing Director, Energy Industries. “We know we can only get the best from our people if we look after them, and that means demonstrating a commitment to – and a celebration of – our differences.”
Regionally in the UAE, ABB is encouraging young Emiratis, who have traditionally focused on public sector careers, to join ABB. Training opportunities, including specialized training on the latest technologies in the Abu Dhabi Learning Zone, and appealing long-term, flexible career pathways at ABB generate significant interest.
ABB is also committed to various global diversity and inclusion initiatives, including being a partner in the Global Alliance for YOUth, which helps young people develop necessary skills to thrive in the world of work, today and tomorrow.
The ADIPEC awards emphasize digitalization and advanced technology and highlight how the oil and gas industry is having a positive impact on society. More than 600 submissions from more than 50 countries were received by the organizers in 2019, with the number of entrants increasing by 92 percent compared to 2018. Across six award categories, companies are given an opportunity to be recognized and acknowledged in the areas of research, technological innovation, digital transformation, performance and efficiency, social contributions, personal achievement, and business progression.
ADIPEC is being held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre in Abu Dhabi from 11-14 November, with ABB at hall 3, stand no. 3110. Sarah Andrews, Head of Marketing Communications for ABB Energy Industries, will deliver a speech about inclusion and diversity in energy at ADIPEC on Thursday 14 November at 11:30am in Conference Room B.
