ABB seminar highlights new technology in transformer components for Chilean market

ABB showcases newest technologies and developments across entire transformers and transformer components portfolio during a one day hosted in Santiago de Chile this past June.

More than 200 customers gathered for a transformer seminar organized by ABB's Power Products division in Chile this past June to learn about ABB's technologies and applications available for the Chilean market. The customers represented 50 companies in the energy transmission, distribution and consultant industries for Chile.

Technical presentations on the agenda included:

  • Differentiation elements for distribution transformers
  • Withstand to short circuit on power transformers
  • Technological development and application for power transformers
  • Dry-type transformers: HiDry technology for solar applications
  • Ultimate technological generation for transformer components
  • Smart transformers
  • Transformer service
  • How to protect and control a transformer

The afternoon program provided an opportunity to showcase ABB's complete portfolio of insulation and components for transformers. Technical presentations for this part of the seminar included:

  • Benefits of dry bushing technologies, especially for seismic regions
  • How COMEM's self-dehydrating breather (SDB) ensures reliable moisture protection
  • Using ABB's vacuum on-load tap changers to reduce maintenance costs while providing improved breaking capacity for demanding applications.

The feedback from customers was overwhelmingly positive, stating that the event helped to understand the real breadth of ABB's offering and to see the new technologies which are available.
