The ninth edition of the international conference on transformers - Trafotech 2014 - was recently held at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre, Bangalore, India. With the theme 'Transformers for Smart Grid', the event coincided with Elecrama 2014, the biennial power transmission and distribution confluence.

At Trafotech, nearly 500 delegates - consultants, manufacturers and utility representatives, from across the world - exchanged ideas and industry thought leaders presented their views on key issues faced by the industry.

ABB presented several papers at the conference. The paper "Environment Friendly Power Transformers" was adjudged as the best paper for the session on Sustainability Issues for Transformers. The paper highlighted the environmental and sustainable issues demanded in modern power transformers and how transformer manufacturers should take care of these requirements. The paper was presented by Kausha Oza, Senior Design Engineer, and Tarun Garg, Head, Design and Engineering, Power Transformers, ABB in India.
