ABB is pleased to announce that it has passed the half-million mark of protection relays from the Relion® product family for power distribution sold worldwide. The 500,000th relay was sold to Tamco Switchgear (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, an established manufacturer of medium and low voltage switchgear in Asia and the Middle East which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro Limited, India's largest engineering and technology company.
Tamco has been a growing customer of ABB in Malaysia mainly for protection relays which are used for their local and export projects.
To mark the occasion, a celebratory event was held on Tuesday, July 5, in Kuala Lumpur to hand over a commemorative plaque to Tamco. ABB was represented by Bruno Melles, Managing Director, Medium Voltage Products Business Unit and representatives from the local business unit whilst accepting the memento on behalf of Tamco was its Chief Executive Officer, Umesh Bharadwaj and the Tamco management team. The event marks an important milestone for ABB, in particular, in the proven track record of its Relion product family.
