ABB invests R$ 300 thousand and inaugurates office in Rio de Janeiro to get closer to customers

Among other services, company will offer local training of Marine and Oil & Gas technologies

ABB has just opened its fifth regional office in Brazil, in the center of Rio de Janeiro. The multinational invested 300 thousand reais in the new headquarter, which will provide better logistics and more agility to serve Marine, Oil, Gas, Chemical and Petrochemical customers.

In the heart of Rio de Janeiro and less than 15 minutes from Petrobras headquarters, the new commercial headquarter will allow the company to store products, offer training and technical courses, perform emergency services and equipment tests.
"We want to be closer our customers, so we can serve them in the best possible way and with more agility. The new office is a milestone for the company and establishes Rio as a strategic market for ABB", says Maurício Cunha, LBU manager for Oil & Gas in ABB Brazil. The city marks the arrival of the multinational into Brazilian market, with the supply of Pão de Açúcar's cable car system in 1912.

"The main companies operating in the Oil & Gas sector are located in Rio. The office will be in a strategic location, where it will facilitate the dynamics of meetings and quick responses to our customers", says Jefferson Coelho, general manager for Marine & Ports.

The training center of the new unit will offer training in Marine, Oil & Gas, Chemical and Petrochemical solutions and technologies, aimed at operators, supervisors and electrical maintenance professionals, as well as courses on automation systems, power distribution and electrical panels Low and medium voltage.

Bet on Brazil
The inauguration is part of ABB's 2017 investment plan. "We are investing in the opening of the office to strengthen our position in these important sectors of the market and we want to be prepared to meet the growing demand that is to come," adds Maurício Cunha.

The company develops technology and electrification solutions as well as automation products and systems for customers in various industry segments and power utilities. The company's operations are organized into four business divisions: Electrification Products, Robotics and Motion, Industrial Automation and Power Grids.

With headquarters in São Paulo, ABB has four manufacturing plants in the country (Guarulhos and Cumbica, Sorocaba and Blumenau), as well as four regional offices (in Belém, Curitiba, Ribeirão Preto and Vitória), seven services and repairs units. ABB employs around 3,000 employees in Brazil.

Recently, the company made a $ 10 million reais investment in the expansion and modernization of the high voltage circuit breaker factory in Guarulhos (SP), making the unit one of the most automated in Latin America.
