ABB Ability™ Smart Sensor for mounted bearings wins Bearing Specialist’s Association Manufacturer Excellence Award

ABB was awarded the Bearings Specialists Association (BSA) Manufacturing Excellence award for the ABB Ability Smart Sensor for mounted bearings at the fall 2019 meeting. The BSA Manufacturer Excellence Award recognizes companies for innovation and excellence in product design or technology. The product must be related to bearings but may be an auxiliary item such as mounting tool, monitoring device, or another accessory.

The ABB Ability Smart Sensor for Mounted bearings is an easy-to-use, wireless sensor which monitor the health of Dodge® mounted bearings, allowing users to reduce downtime, improve reliability, and operate safely. The ABB Ability™ Smart Sensor for mounted bearings measures temperature and vibration of the bearing, as these are the first indicators of a potential problem in a bearing. The sensor gives warnings on decreasing health status, which allows you to plan maintenance before there is a problem and the system is down. The ability to monitor bearings remotely allows maintenance and other relevant personnel to safely get a health check of the bearing without touching equipment.
