‘My Power Grids Story’ campaign launched, spotlighting how its experts are Shaping the Future of Sustainable Energy
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day 2020 and in support of climate action (Earth Day theme), ABB Power Grids has launched the My Power Grids Story campaign.
The My Power Grids Story campaign spotlights its amazing experts who are contributing to shaping the future of sustainable energy – the Purpose of the business.
Located in over 90 countries around the world, ABB Power Grids’ experts are pioneering technologies that are making societal progress possible. The business has invited its employees to share their own stories – told in their own words – saying how through their everyday work they are helping to decarbonize the world.
The storytellers are also invited to say what makes them proud about their work and what they are looking forward to most about the future. As the business gears up to form a joint venture with Hitachi – expected to close by the end of the first half of 2020 – the employee engagement campaign puts Power Grids’ people at the heart of the business. The campaign also spotlights how the employees are enabling the global energy transition and combatting climate change – generating excitement and pride.
Two Digital Earth Day Events
To get the storytelling campaign off to a flying start, ABB Power Grids hosted two Digital Earth Day Events on 20 and 21 April. The lively events were held virtually on Microsoft Teams and brought together a diverse group of around 30 employees from Canada, China, Finland, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Oman, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UAE and the USA.
Not deterred by the current home-working situation, the energy levels remained high and the colleagues, who would not normally work together, had a chance to make new connections and take a sneak peek inside one another’s living rooms! During the events, many experts enthusiastically shared their stories, covering topics such as developing automation solutions for increased energy efficiency, to pioneering UHVDC connections for transmitting electricity over 000’s km – with minimal energy losses.
During both events, the virtual meeting room was buzzing with excitement and human stories of sustainable progress. There was a shared conclusion that it was possible for every employee in the business to have an impact and through our combined efforts, improve the quality of life many millions of people around the planet.
