Test room team of Power Transformer ( PGTR ) is preparing to this challenging period by taking new approaches with Virtual FAT for their transformers. Since the customers are not allowed to attend the factory acceptance tests for their transformers in person, team has begun carrying out FATs via a video conferencing facility instead.
The first live remote FAT, CFP Crude Oil project was recently completed successfully at ABB Bangpoo Factory, Samutprakarn. This transformer can now be on time delivery as planned. Apart from the fact that the customers was not physically present for their personal safety and save time, the virtual FAT followed the same procedure as its conventional counterpart depend on customer’s specification and standard test procedure. According to the FAT report, all tests relevant to production and safety were performed on screen and streamed live.
This group of customers gave team a compliment that remote FAT for 2XTH919026-A is a great solution at this moment because there is no software needed on the customer side only plugin could be prompted to be installed. While we are testing there are four cameras showing the Test Room on real time and they can continuous communication with test engineers all the time as they are on site. The screen shared directly from the instrument for Low voltage test, Losses, Heat Run, Impulse and Partial Discharges with full resolution and the final results be sent by e-mail. It is more convenient and safe for both ABB team and customers while we keep social distancing.
In this meantime, team is continuously improving on system to support the further customers and team hopefully that ABB Power Grids (Thailand) Limited could help customers and their partners run the extra mile smoothly with safe.

1. Set up portable CCTVs on site, connect to NVR system ( 4G backup ), connect all systems to remote desktops
2. Test engineer creates the virtual meetings for each test with project manager
3. Project manager forwards this invitation to customer for Remote FAT
4. FAT Witnesses & Make Skype or Microsoft teams with high quality display
