Mizrak Machine, a specialist manufacturer of woodworking machinery for furniture, kitchen and yacht makers, is the latest OEM to choose ABB technologies to power its complete portfolio. The switch enables Mizrak to reduce space requirements for its control cabinets.
Mizrak specializes in planing machinery, producing equipment that customers use to ensure doors and panels are precisely sized and that edges are attractive and durable. The company’s facility in Turkey’s Bursa Industrial Zone supplies a range of advanced solutions to customers around the world.
Space savings are a key factor in purchasing decisions for Mizrak customers. By selecting ABB as its sole supplier and integrating all the electrical control devices into one cabinet, Mizrak is making its products more compact, cost-effective and competitive.
Mizrak Machine General Manager IYON Mekatronik said: “We have converted 90 percent of our portfolio to ABB products. ABB has enabled us to optimize our machine portfolio using advanced technology that meet our objectives: improvements in product performance with space-savings that benefit customers.”
Çetin Seferoğlu, Sales Specialist in ABB in Turkey, said: “ABB is often the first company that OEMs consult when they need space-savings. Our local teams are experts in finding solutions that use advanced technologies that free up valuable cabinet space. We are thrilled to have supported Mizrak in this process.”
ABB in Turkey worked with Mizrak and its systems integrator, IYON Mekatronic, to develop solutions to meet the complete range of customer requirements. The collaboration began with ABB’s HF range of electronic compact starters that provide switching functions for three-phase induction motors up to 3kW/400VAC, as well as direct on-line, reverse start and resistive loads.
HF starters are just 22.5 mm wide and protect against overload, phase failure and phase asymmetry. The starters are designed for safety, with the EU’s ATEX certification and the highest levels of PL e and SIL 3 safety rankings.
For Mizrak’s semi-automated tilting circular saw, a signal from a push button starts the machine. With operators switching the saw on and off 30 to 50 times a day, the HF starter’s lifetime of 30 million electrical switching cycles and switching frequency of 7,200 times per hour makes the solution exceptional value. HF starters also enable all the control products to be integrated into a single, compact cabinet, reducing cabling and labor costs.
Mizrak has integrated a range of other technologies from ABB, including Sentry Safety Relays, miniature circuit breakers, MMS technology for protection, electronically controlled AF contactors and ABB monitoring relays. ABB is continuing to work with IYON Mekatronic: the next phase of the project will convert Mizrak’s power supplies to ABB products, creating additional customer value.
