ABB has been recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers

With over 10,000 employers invited to apply, this recognition highlights ABB Canada’s commitment to its people from coast to coast.

ABB is proud to announce it has been selected as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. The award was presented to ABB for fostering an inclusive and supportive corporate culture built on a foundation of continuous learning and community engagement.

The Award

Now celebrating its 20th year, Canada’s Top 100 Employers is a national competition aimed at identifying and recognizing employers that lead the way in offering exceptional workplaces for Canadians.

Winners are selected based on performance and offerings in eight key areas, including: physical workplace and work atmosphere; health, financial and family benefits; training and skills development; and community involvement.

"We are honored to be named as one of Canada’s Top Employers. We believe in a culture of individual growth, where employees are empowered to achieve their highest potential,” explains Éric Deschênes, Country Managing Director and Head of ABB’s Electrification business in Canada.  “Our value system is the cornerstone of our culture and this award is a testimony to our continuous commitment to improving both our employees’ and customers’ experiences with us.”

Working at ABB

Here are a few of the many reasons why ABB has been selected as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers:

Health Benefits: ABB recognizes that a healthy workforce is key to a successful workplace, and as a result, health and wellness are at the forefront of all that they do. Employees have access to offerings like the Employee Assistance Program, 24/7 virtual medical care, in-house fitness facilities and classes, ergonomic specialists, a personal health spending account and more.

Work-Life Balance: With a commitment to inclusivity, and to ensure better work-life balance, ABB has introduced its 2020 Flexible Work Arrangements Policy, empowering employees to work the way that they want to, where they want to. Whether it be through telecommuting, remote work, flextime or even compressed work weeks, this flexibility grants employee the time and freedom to pursue their goals outside of work.

Community Involvement: ABB aims to support the communities where employees live and work by giving to organizations that affect lasting change in five key areas: community support, youth in STEM, disaster relief in Canada, health and wellness, and customer focus. In 2020, ABB in Canada launched the New Way of Giving that has been developed around the implementation of a comprehensive, digital philanthropy platform. Through this new initiative, ABB hopes to empower employees to support their communities and build a social responsibility movement, driven from the grassroots.

Diversity & Inclusion: ABB is committed to solving some of the biggest global challenges of our time. A culture of diversity, inclusion and equal opportunity is what enables the company to retain and attract the exceptional people that make up its organization. ABB Canada strives for a culture where individual differences are not only welcomed but celebrated.

With these measures and more, ABB is committed to the workforce of the future and to helping Canadians lead the way in society and industry to achieve a more productive, sustainable future. ABB’s commitment to its employees runs in parallel to its commitment to customers and communities in an effort to create a better world.

"ABB's goal is to be at the leading edge of the companies that are shaping Canada's future. The dedication, commitment and expertise of our employees is what makes ABB," says Sylvie Bergeron, Vice President of Human Resources at ABB Canada. "We strive to ensure that our people get everything they need to achieve their full potential through a range of structured talent management, learning and development programs.

This recognition, published in the Globe & Mail, follows ABB in Canada’s #14 placement in Forbes Magazine’s Canada’s Best Employers.
