In the first week of November, ABB joined Danish and Dutch business leaders in Denmark for the Royal Digital Business Conference to discuss the challenges and solutions in the field of green energy. The hybrid event which combined in-person conference with online participants became a platform for some of the most innovative and successful companies in Denmark to present their eco-friendly solutions for a low-carbon world.
At the virtual exhibition, ABB representatives showcased the ABB Ability™ Digital Powertrain, which forms the core of the Motion business’ digital offering. ABB Ability™ Digital Powertrain monitoring solutions are used in cooling, heating, water and other building applications. We also highlighted ABB’s control solutions and digital services that offer benefits such as energy efficiency, capital costs optimization and systems reliability in the district heating segment.
The event participants held discussions focusing on how Netherlands and Denmark can work together to obtain their ambitious climate goals through the green transformation of their societies. Frank Grundholm, Vice President for global HVAC sales in ABB Motion participated in the round-table discussion on ‘Decarbonizing the Built Environment.’ It centred around the challenges to transform more than 7 million homes and 1 million non-residential buildings into well-insulated properties that are heated with renewable heat, by 2050. Participants identified the need for scalable energy renovation business models developed in close collaboration between industry, government and housing companies.
Marcel Zevenbergen, Business Development Manager at ABB Motion in the Netherlands participated in a discussion on the theme of “Greening the Gas – Biogas, Hydrogen and Beyond.” The open discussion was focused on a couple of topics: challenges in scaling up the production and consumption of biogas and hydrogen as well as specific opportunities for cooperation between Dutch and Danish companies.
Staf Seurinck, Local Business Area Manager for ABB Motion and Country Managing Director in ABB Netherlands, participated in the discussion on “Electricity – Wind Power and Sector Integration”. Participants of this round table recognized the need for a common strategy for renewable energy expansion, development of the right infrastructure and enhanced partnerships to support innovation.
Embedding sustainable technologies lies at the heart of ABB's purpose, and its contribution to climate goals have only increased with every passing year. Several of ABB’s revolutionary, energy-saving innovations, including ABB Ability™ Digital Powertrain and control solutions for buildings, are a proof of the company’s determination in turning the world into a greener place.
