ABB supplies electricity distribution system to UPM's eucalyptus pulp mill in Uruguay

ABB and UPM have agreed on an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) type of power distribution system supply for UPM's world-class pulp mill currently under construction in Uruguay. ABB Process Industries Division is responsible for the overall delivery of the system.

The mill electrification project will be carried out in close cooperation with ABB Uruguay, which will be responsible for the project's onsite operations and will handle the installation and commissioning services on site together with ABB Process Industries Division, Finland. Hitachi ABB Power Grids delivers the project's power and distribution transformers in cooperation with ABB Process Industries Division leading the project.

ABB is already known in Uruguay for the supply and maintenance of many industrial electrical systems and equipment. Local support is important to customers, and ABB has a strong local organization in the country.

ABB's deliveries to the UPM plant that will be located near the city of Paso de los Toros in Uruguay will begin in April 2021, and the last equipment belonging to ABB's electricity distribution system will be delivered in October the same year.
