There is a new 25-minute E-Learning program that focuses on the introduction of the ABB Ability Smart Sensor and its value. The sensor is used to measure and monitor temperature and vibration across a range of mechanical product transmission products.
“The sensor is easy to use. It eliminates or reduces unplanned downtime, increases safety, as well as extends the life of the system, as well as the mechanical products that are being used,” Corbin Belknap said.
Belknap is the product training coordinator with ABB’s Mechanical Product Transmission Division, also known as MPT. Belknap says this E-Learning program engages its uses with its interactive and personal touches.
“Engagement is really key because I think if you put the standard training out there and it’s static, you start to lose people,” Belknap said. “The user feels part of the process and I think it engages them and it helps in the learning experience- especially when it comes to retaining that content.”
The new ABB Ability Smart Sensor E-Learning program also outlines the sensor’s value.
“We have one section that shows various common applications like bucket elevators, screw conveyors, belt conveyors- these are going to be extremely common to the MPT world. There are a lot of potential dangers associated with those pieces of equipment. So, when it comes to this E-Learning it really gives those individuals- whether they’re an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), a distributor, or end-user, a great idea of how this sensor increases safety. I think those interactive elements really stick with you for a long time,” Belknap said.
Belknap says the program is designed for anyone who can join the ABB My Learning Site.
“It’s really open to anybody to give them a great understanding of what the Smart Sensor is and its value. Outside of an introduction value it also will touch on ABB Ability- what that is and the ABB Ability family of Smart Sensors including the motor sensor and the sensor that we have for pumps,” Belknap said.
