Jiang and other guests at the forum exchanged opinions on how to build a new digital ecosystem and advance industrial innovation in context of the new round of technology revolution and industrial upgrading. He also shared the recent success cases of how ABB helps industrial transformation and sustainable development with industry leading digital technologies. “China’s journey of ‘carbon emission peak and carbon neutrality’ will create more new opportunities for industrial digitalization. As a global leader in technology, ABB will continue providing cross-disciplinary and integrated digital capability to help customers improve efficiency while reducing emissions and saving resources, thus making continuous contributions to the sustainable development of industries and building a low-carbon society.” Said Jiang.

At the CAIAC 2021, ABB China was honored as one of the “China's Top Automation Enterprises of 2020” once again. The COVID-19 hit in 2020 accelerated the industrial digitalization and became a catalyst for the transformation and upgrading of all industries. ABB China sought opportunities amid challenges, developed and offered a series of automation and digital products, solutions and services that help customers improve quality and efficiency, reduce energy consumption, and thus enhance their resilience and competitiveness in the pandemic-stricken time. In the past year, the number of patent applications filed by the local R&D team increased by 11 percent YoY, continuing a double-digit fast growth and demonstrating ABB China’s excellent innovation capability.

ABB AbilityTM Mobile Gas Leak Detection System was named one of the “Most Valuable Solutions”. After its debut at the CIIE 2019, this innovative solution has been rapidly deployed in many large gas companies in more than 30 cities of China to detect and evaluate their gas pipeline networks. Now its service mileage has exceeded 100,000 km and is still increasing at a speed of over 10,000 km per month. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, the efficient solution has greatly contributed to the safe and reliable operation of gas pipeline networks in cities.

As one of the three ABB products honored with the award of the Most Competitive & Innovative Products, ABB’s new intelligent electromagnetic flowmeter AquaMaster4 becomes one of the perfect options for intelligent monitoring and control of leakage in urban water supply networks. It combines the Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to provide a game-changing reading and parameter configuration approach, provides extended battery life and higher range ratio, integrates the regular self-check function to ensure long-term and stable measurement accuracy, and can load the ABB narrow band IoT communication module for measurement products to allow more efficient and convenient data transmission.

ABB’s small six-axis industrial robot IRB 1300 also won the award of the “Most Competitive & Innovative Products”. As a new member of the ABB small industrial robot family, IRB 1300 provides the same payload of up to 10kg with IRB 1600, but 27 percent shorter cycle times, 60 percent lighter weight and 83 percent smaller footprint. It can quickly lift materials of heavy weight or complex and irregular shapes, meeting the market demand for faster and more compact robots. IRB 1300 can be used for a wide range of tasks in materials handling, machine tending, polishing, and assembly and testing applications, and is especially suitable for electronics, food & beverage, pharmaceuticals, FMCG processing, packaging, logistics and other fields.

B&R’s X20CP3687X PLC is another winner of this award. The new X20CP3687X PLC combines the performance of an industrial PC with the compact design of the X20 controller series. With powerful processing, additional RAM and integrated onboard flash memory, the high-performance controller can handle complex control algorithms, even robotics applications that previously required industrial PC to implement. With a TSN-enabled Ethernet interface, the X20CP3687X is perfectly equipped for the future of automation. It is fully prepared for communication using the manufacturer-independent communication standard OPC UA over TSN.

ABB Ability™ System 800xA distributed control system was selected as the “Most Trusted Products in the Automation Industry 2020”. As a collaborative automation platform that seamlessly integrates process, electrical, safety and communication technologies, it provides an ergonomic operator station and efficient operator control room, and helps maximize the productivity of companies. ABB Ability™ System 800xA v6 (Version 6) is not only suitable for all ABB automation products, but also compatible with automation products and systems from other manufacturers. In addition, the system integration tools and special services provided by ABB Ability™ System 800xA can help customers easily and flexibly deploy the latest control technologies for continuous operational optimization.

The Wanjiazhai Yellow River Water Diversion Project, where ABB Beijing Drive Systems Co. Ltd. is a partner, was honored with award of the “Most Influential Engineering Projects of 2020”. As one of the major strategic projects to address Shanxi’s shortage of water resources, the project draws water from the Wanjiazhai Reservoir and supplies the resource to Taiyuan, Datong and Shuozhou. Built upon the successful experience in the Phase I pump expansion project of the Wanjiazhai Yellow River Water Diversion work, ABB provided the Phase II pump expansion project with medium-voltage drives LCI, synchronous motors, PLC systems, transformers, switchgears, excitation equipment, filters and other leading products, services and solutions, fully supporting this key national project benefiting the country and the people.
