Passport continues to provide options to meet the needs of its users. Now, there’s a new assembly option for Torque-Arm Drive Packages.
“One of the things that’s powerful about our portfolio is – not only that we have a broad range of products that we can offer for our customers, but we can take a number of those products and package them together. This works in a complimentary fashion so that you can create a whole system- a whole drive system,” Matthew Wolford said. He’s the product manager for MOPT’s Dodge Electronic Tools & Portfolio.
The new option in Passport allows components of a drive to be assembled once they’re selected. Prior to the new option, when a customer ordered a drive assembly, the order would go to Crossville, Tennessee with instructions needed for a proper assembly. Now, it can be done automatically by the user once an option is chosen to create an assembled package.
“Previously, if you did it through Passport, you’d get part numbers, but if you wanted it assembled it would have to still be entered by the Bulk Material Handling Group,” Wolford said.
For example, for a Torque-Arm reducer a traditional belted Torque-Arm requires a reducer, a belt guard, a belt drive, and a motor mount. Once these parts are selected, users will see an option that asks, “Do you want this package assembled?” Customers can place the order themselves or internal support can look it up in the operating system.
The new option saves time for customers and for internal support.
“It’s one thing to select and order just the part numbers, but one of the ways that we add value for our customers is being able to select all of those components as a package through Passport,” Wolford said.
“The (Bulk Material Handling) group had to go in and type in all of the part numbers and quantities and then they had to do it in a special manner that made sure that it was assembled. Otherwise, if you just put in part numbers and quantities, we would just pick all of those parts and ship them.
The assembly function for Torque-Arm Drive Packages include TXT, SCXT, Torque-Arm II, shaft-mounted Torque-Arm II, and Screw Conveyors.
“Once it’s done in Passport, when you hit ‘create order,’ it pulls everything over into PT Place. So, a customer could send us an order directly and we could look-up the selection in the system. Or, the customer places the order for the components, adds them to their cart in PT Place and they can place an order. The Bulk Material Handling Group doesn’t have to do a thing.
The new assembly option comes at no additional cost to the customer.
