ABB showcases end-to-end charging solutions at EVS34

The 34th International Electric Vehicle Symposium and Exhibition (EVS34) will be held in Nanjing on June 25-28th. ABB will attend the exhibition and demonstrate its advanced digital solutions which are helping to drive further national e-mobility adoption.

With more than a decade of experience across the e-mobility sector, groundbreaking technology from ABB such as its DC Fast Charger, AC Charger and ABB compact charger skid system (a conjoined charging station that combines fast charger and compact substation) is helping China to reduce transport emissions, a key step in achieving its goal of carbon neutrality before 2060.

The ABB compact charger skid system can reduce land construction and on-site commissioning work by 80%, and helps customers build safer and faster electric vehicle charging infrastructure. ABB's Terra charger series is designed for quick, convenient charging of all-electric vehicles. It allows for the remote addition, reset and upgrade of functions, can reduce more than 60% of operation and on-site servicefailures and improve usage efficiency.

James Zhao, lead business manager of ABB Electrification in China said: “Smart transportation is developing at a fast pace and is becoming more connected, collaborative and intelligent due to the many advances in technology. The transportation industry is the world's second-largest carbon emissions source, and sustainable transportation development is crucial. As a technology leader, ABB focuses on the areas where it can make the most impact such as enabling a low-carbon society, preserving resources and promoting social progress worldwide.

“ABB's solutions and responsible business practices drive sustainable proress, contribute to China's carbon neutrality goals and empower China to build a new, green transport ecosystem.“

ABB’s digital solutions have played a key role in developing supporting infrastructure for electric vehicles. The ABB Ability™ platform combines charging facilities and digital technology to remotely troubleshoot and maximize charger availability. It enables customers to operate their charger network in the most efficient way to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) and build a profitable business. It also delivers the best user experience to CPOz, eMSPs, and EV Drivers and improves customer satisfaction. Through cloud management, the platform reduces on-site visits and allows for advanced service work such as commissioning and remote diagnostics and repair. It also ensures the stable operation of the power system.

ABB has sold more than 400,000 electric vehicle chargers across more than 85 markets; over 20,000 DC fast chargers and 380,000 AC chargers, including those sold through Chargedot. In China, ABB has been working with BYD and Daimler since 2016 to provide DC chargers for their DENZA series and also delivers chargers for electric vehicle manufacturers, including NIO, GAC Toyota, BP/ifuel66 and other operators.

The cooperation between ABB and the FIA Formula-E provides a global platform for testing and developing electrification and digital technology for electric vehicles and promotes electric transportation for a noise-free and zero-emission future.

EVS is the world's largest international symposium and exhibition for the EV sector, including battery electric vehicles (BEV), hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) and fuel cell vehicles (FCV). EVS already has a long history of more than 50 years since its birth in Phoenix, Arizona, U.S.A. in 1969.
