ABB products certified as "Proudly Made in Egypt"

ABB has succeeded in obtaining the 'Egyptian Local Component Certificate' for utilizing more than 40 percent of local components in manufacturing its electrification distribution products at its facilities in the 10th of Ramadan city. The list of products includes MV (Medium Voltage) switchgear, (RMU) Ring Main Unit, load break switches and compact substations, in addition to instrument transformers and LV (Low Voltage) Switchgear.

The certification comes from the Presidential Initiative encouraging local industry to serve the country’s economy and boost industrial growth. Granted by the Federation of Egyptian Industries under the General Authority for Industrial Development supervision, the Egyptian Local Component Certificate will give ABB product preference and priority as an Egyptian-made product in government tenders and contracts.

This certificate has also qualified ABB to obtain the "Proudly Made in Egypt" certificate/seal from the Industrial Modernization Center (IMC).

"We are fully committed to strengthening our role as a reliable partner for Egypt’s electricity sector. It’s a matter of pride that the products with the seal ‘Proudly made in Egypt’ will not only reach our local customers but also those across the Middle East and African market", said Loay Dajani, Country Managing Director, ABB, Egypt.

ABB has passed the assessment of the IMC committee with a rate of nearly 70 percent, owing to its high-quality standards in manufacturing and its commitment to innovative energy efficiency and waste management systems.

"The Egyptian market is experiencing a huge boom in the electricity sector, and as a leading manufacturer, we have to keep pace with these developments, not only in terms of numbers and manufacturing volume but also in terms of quality expectations. By receiving these two certificates, we are helping to boost Egyptian industrial exports, encouraging local manufacturing and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian products locally and abroad," added Mohamed Salem, Local Division Manager, ABB Electrification Distribution Solutions.

Proudly Made in Egypt" mark, launched in 2016 by the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry, seeks to distinguish companies that apply total quality standards approved by Egyptian and International accreditation bodies, as part of Egypt Vision 2030, which aims at decreasing the country’s reliance on imports and boosting local production and exports.
