In my 28 years of working in the energy sector, I have witnessed the tectonic shift that Industry 4.0 revolution unleashed while influencing industrial firms to embrace digital transformation. UAE, a young nation, and a major player in the energy industry, has been riding this path of transformation and bringing energy professionals, corporates and policy makers under one umbrella in one of the most high-profile events, Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) every year.
ADIPEC Hybrid 2021, slated to be held in mid-November, is part of the year-long events that started in April this year as UAE celebrates its 50th anniversary. The country, in a short span, has come a long way driving technological advancement across its manufacturing and oil and gas sectors. Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) hosts ADIPEC and has been a key contributor in putting UAE on the world map as a global energy hub and epicenter of innovation.
ADNOC, with whom we have been doing business for a longtime, has been playing a crucial role in propelling UAE’s drive towards clean energy and digitalization. The state-owned firm has been investing in next-generation technologies including solar power and renewable energy.

This year, the conference, which will be held both virtually and in person, is focusing on energy transition and hydrogen while unlocking new value in an evolving energy landscape worldwide. A roundtable on hydrogen has been added to the program to invite discussions on how clean energy leads to carbon neutrality.
In recent years, hydrogen has gained prominence as an alternative to develop cutting-edge systems and solutions that will lead to a clean, low-carbon energy system with reduced greenhouse gas emissions and improved air quality. We at ABB are keen on sharing our expertise and exchange technical knowledge on the future of hydrogen at ADIPEC.
In 2021, ADIPEC is broadly focused on four themes-The new energy agenda; Building the energy company of the future - new business models and investment flows; and Transformational technologies.
The event will give global oil and gas industry opportunities to build strategies in balancing demand and supply in a post-pandemic world as we continue to work remotely amid travel restrictions.
