ABB strengthens commitment to Singapore through investments in new Customer Innovation Center, creating shared value through industrial digitalization
ABB today inaugurated its Singapore customer innovation center equipped with the best of ABB’s digital offerings and expertise in order to collaborate with customers to help them take full advantage of opportunities available through the Energy and Fourth Industrial Revolutions.
The Center was launched in the presence of Assistant Managing Director of the Singapore Economic Development Board, Lim Kok Kiang, ABB EC Member and President of Asia, Middle East and Africa region, Dr. Chunyuan Gu and Managing Director of ABB in Singapore, Johan de Villiers.
Designed for sustainable operations and built on ABB Ability™ – a unified, cross-industry digital technology platform extending from device to edge to cloud – the Customer Innovation Center provides a unique opportunity to co-develop powerful solutions that address real business problems and produce tangible business opportunities for customers in the infrastructure, manufacturing, process industries, transportation and utilities sectors.
“The Fourth Industrial Revolution is changing the way companies manufacture their products. In Singapore, we have also been transforming the manufacturing industry to ride the wave of growth with Industry 4.0. ABB’s expanded digital presence here will bolster this transformation by bringing innovative solutions to companies in Singapore, helping them produce faster and more cost-efficiently,” said Mr Lim Kok Kiang.
“The Customer Innovation Center represents a significant investment and commitment to Singapore and Southeast Asia as growth markets and an important customer base,” said Dr. Gu. “It strengthens our capacity to serve and support customers with technologies and capabilities key to the digital transformation of their operations. This facility has been designed to enable our workforce to unlock the values of the Fourth Industrial Revolution for customers in Singapore and beyond.”
“This center was developed for our customers to lift collaboration and co-creation to new levels,” said de Villiers. “ABB’s pioneering technologies are driving industrial productivity and contributing to Singapore’s innovation ecosystem in so many ways. This center is surrounded by many technology companies and start-ups. Through deeper collaboration with customers and partners, we want to develop new ideas and innovations, and do our part to keep Singapore at the forefront of the digital economy.”
The center will help customers to harness major leaps in productivity and efficiency, driving competitiveness, quality and security, through smart grid technology, electrification of all points of energy consumption and advanced automation solutions, important building blocks to a future of autonomous operations.
Facilities launched today include an ABB Ability™ Collaborative Operations Center, the first in Southeast Asia. Market investment in digitalization has dramatically increased the volume of data available to producers. Through the Collaborative Operations Center, ABB delivers higher value from this data through information analytics that drive decisions to optimize site and fleet performance. The center opens with a number of customers already being served through its advanced data analytics and access to experts.
Additionally, the facilities house the Digital Solutions Center, Digital Services Center for Drives, Power & Water Innovation Center, Robotics Applications Center, a Smarter Building Center, and state-of-the-art customer training facilities.
The innovative space at Ayer Rajah Crescent has also been designed as a living laboratory where ABB will deploy its own products and technologies to intelligently manage its own energy use. These include wireless intelligent sensors, building management systems, control room solutions, renewable energy integration and digital grid technologies.
