ABB has decided to withdraw from the divestment of its Motors and Generators rotating machine workshop business in Kewdale, Western Australia. To ensure we prioritise the best interests of the workshop, the expanding install base following the success of the Iron Bridge Project and our key strategic and global corporate customers across Western Australia, we have determined that this workshop would be best suited to stay within the ABB business model to secure long-term favourable growth.
The Kewdale workshop is one of Australia’s leading Rotating Machinery workshops and is providing critical repair and maintenance to essential service businesses across the country. It can repair some of the largest rotating machines in Australasia, as an electrical equipment repair facility complete with in-shop mechanical capability and skilled field service engineers.
In particular, the Kewdale workshop is renowned for being a Centre of Excellence for the mining sector, and has been a sought-after hub for servicing, maintaining, and repairing rotating electrical machines for many decades.
This services establishment will continue to be run by the talented and skilled staff, who are excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the substantial projects already underway at the location, which will contribute to incredible milestones for this business and the country.
For large equipment, the workshop will continue to offer field service resources who can service onsite for customer convenience. The workshop will also have an increased focus on providing services and support across all growth industries.
ABB will support the Kewdale Rotating Machinery business in delivering best-in-class products and digital services and remains committed to the Australian market and to serving customer requirements. We look forward to extending the high level offering that our customers have always received from ABB and will explore additional opportunities to add value to their business.
I’d like to take this opportunity to reiterate our ongoing commitment to the industries we support, the customers we value, and the essential services and suppliers we transact with. We look forward to continued business with you.
