ABB University Kazakhstan Training Center recently completed a two-day training dedicated to our existing and new customers on low voltage frequency drives (LVFD) that are primarily used in automation solutions including the widely implemented ABB distributed control systems (DCS). The training program was held at the ABB office in Almaty.
“The training focused on showcasing the functionalities of LVFDs to our existing and new customers that are looking to digitalize their processes and play a key role in making the world more sustainable,” said Roman Shinkarenko who was spearheading the training module.
LVFDs play a significant role in the digitalization process through the implementation of various automation solutions while significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Currently, 41 percent of energy in the world is generated by power plants burning coal and emitting carbon dioxide and methane into the atmosphere. The first step from “coal” energy to “green” energy is to start using LVFDs that results in energy efficiency.
Using our LVFDs for control motors can reduce energy consumption on customer sites by 30-50 percent, and in some cases by 90 percent. The training program was attended by ABB’s OEM and AVP providers from the oil and gas and mining industries. Kazakhstan’s top mineral producers also attended the event.
Building the case for digitalization through training
Digitalization has wrapped the world of technology with companies across the world from varying industries looking to implement automation solutions to reduce emissions and maintenance costs. As a part of the training, customers and users gained insights on various aspects of their equipment parameters for more efficient usage and maintenance activities. In addition, the training provided an understanding of the types of spare parts used for LVFDs that enhances productivity.
“Our customers through this training now have an idea on the importance of spare parts and why purchasing them in advance reduces hazardous on-site incidents,” added Shinkarenko.
The training had specifically designed demo stands on LVFDs catering to individual customers. These demos will improve the qualifications of experienced users and provide basic knowledge to all new customers who are looking to ensure higher productivity at their plants. LVFDs used in plant motors have proven to be advantageous when it comes to enabling a better quality of production.
“With this training, our customers can feel confident in implementing low voltage drives while receiving local support from ABB Kazakhstan. It also laid down the necessary steps required towards more advanced training wherever applicable,” Shinkarenko noted.
ABB is known for its state-of-the-art automation and digital solutions. The training highlighted the functions of LVFDs and paved the way for ABB Ability Cloud Digitalization for LVFDs on-site via NETA device used for Remote Condition Monitoring. “In future, through more such training, we are looking to expand our footprint in the region,” Shinkarenko added.
