ABB Bulgaria challenges students to improve energy efficiency in industrial plants

The GREEN challenge encourages young people to learn about energy efficiency and propose innovative solutions to improve the industry.

With an eye towards building a smarter, safer and more sustainable future, ABB is launchinga new challenge dedicated to students, called GREEN – Generatе Resolutions for Energy Efficiency and Neutrality. This initiative will give students the opportunity to create projects that support achieving energy efficiency, at industrial sites, which are among the biggest energy consumers.

The challenge will last for one week between April 8-15, just before World Earth Day. During this period, students across the country will have the chance to work on their projects, either individually or as part of a team of up to four people. Their final projects can consist of a software system, an application, a website, or a visionary presentation.

Challenge participants will have resources from ABB available for research. Students will also be given access to an open API of our ABB Ability Energy and Asset Manager system, through which they will be able to read valuable data and implement it in their own project.

The teams will be able to reach out to technical specialists from ABB during the whole week if they need assistance with the research and development phase of their project. At the end of the week, the teams will present their projects to a jury of ABB experts, who will determine the winner based on the following criteria: innovation, creativity, depth of research, level of complexity and feasibility. Bonus points will be earned for the use of ABB technology in the project.

The winner of the challenge will receive a monetary award of 2000 BGN, which they will be able to use for their academic and professional development. All participants will also get the opportunity to exchange valuable ideas with peers from other universities and specializations, as well as experts in the industry, to expand their knowledge and create a valuable network. They will also have the opportunity to apply for a summer internship in ABB Bulgaria and kickstart their professional career.

If you are a student with interesting ideas who is searching for opportunities to share them with experienced professionals and hear their honest feedback, apply now for the GREEN challenge, and win the chance to earn a great prize!
