ABB South Africa handed over the revamped Musina hospital clinic as part of their support to healthcare services in local communities. The official hand over commenced with a walk through of the clinic site, whereby ABB officially handed over the use, care and maintenance of the newly established clinic site.
The project was part of the contract ABB had with De Beers Venetia Mine to design, manufacture, install and commission two production hoists and two service hoists. The contract also included the supply of critical spares for this equipment.
The Musina hospital CEO, Ligege Ntovhedzeni, acknowledged and recognised the good work that ABB and De Beers did in upgrading Musina Gateway Clinic and Hospital’s COVID-19 designated ward. “It was indeed a milestone for us as the hospital and Musina community at large as we now have a spacious clinic with more consulting rooms and refurbished ward,” he said.
The R1 443 395,53 investment went into the expansion of the hospital’s complex clinic and the refurbishment of the Covid-19 ward. This project will assist in improving primary healthcare services and address the shortage of space at the hospital.
“At ABB South Africa we recognise the role that the healthcare system plays in our communities and seek to help raise the quality of life in the communities where we operate,” said Cynthia Khoali, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at ABB.
One of our values is CARE, which talks to taking care of our customers, our people and the environment and we are very proud to have been granted this opportunity through our partnership with De Beers to make a difference.
