ABB recognises HVACR industry rising stars

ABB is once again the sponsor of the Male and Female Rising Star Award categories at the 2018 HVACR Leadership Awards, hosted by Climate Control News Magazine

This is the fourth year running that ABB has sponsored the Rising Star award category, which is open to Australians 35 years of age and under who are working within the HVACR industry. Sponsoring the awards reinforces ABB’s commitment towards recognising the achievements of young talent within the Heating Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) industry.

“As a leading supplier of drives and controls to the HVACR industry, sponsoring the Rising Star awards highlights the importance that ABB places on nurturing and developing up and coming talent,” said Paul Burrows, HVAC Segment Manager for ABB in Australia.

As a pioneering technology leader, with a history spanning more than 130 years, ABB is writing the future of digitalisation and innovation within the HVACR industry. A recent innovation is ABB’s Drivetune, a smartphone app that allows installers to wirelessly connect to ABB drives, via a user-friendly Bluetooth interface. This allows users and technicians to perform basic troubleshooting and start-up tasks, thereby saving time and money.

ABB has also been a pioneer in terms of the development of ultra-low harmonic (ULH) drive technology, which mitigates potentially harmful harmonics within commercial building and industrial applications.

In much the same way that innovation is part of ABB’s DNA, the HVACR industry rising stars are very often the trail blazers and innovators of the HVACR industry, with many past award recipients moving up the ranks to take up senior leadership positions.

“ABB is proud to be recognising the achievements of the rising stars within the HVACR industry. Celebrating the achievements of these young people is an investment of the future of the industry,” said Paul.

“We are particularly proud to be supporting a dual award, which puts the spotlight on young people who are achieving great things in the industry.”

The 2018 HVACR Leadership Awards event took place on 11 October, at the Arts Centre in Melbourne.
