  • Insights into how partnerships, such as Samsung Electronics, are driving innovation in energy saving, energy management and home automation

From September 2-6, 2022, in Berlin, Germany, ABB will profile its latest developments for smart homes, and demonstrate where open, agnostic technology intersects with user-driven design to meet the needs of modern living. From its Busch-Jaeger (an ABB company) exhibition space at IFA, in Hall 2.2, Stand 202, the company will exhibit design highlights, including in light switches alongside flexibility and scalability themes with smart home applica- tions such as ABB-free@home®, ABB-free@home® flex, ABB i-bus® KNX and ABB-Welcome systems.

Building on the sustainability theme with its e-mobility and renewables integration solutions, visitors will learn how collaboration supports ABB’s ambition to offer residents and real estate owners technologies that work seamlessly with existing systems. A dedicated partnership wall will bring to life how advanced comfort and convenience in the home is achieved through combining the technologies of Samsung SmartThings, and ABB-free@home®, utilizing the Internet of Things (IoT). Visitors can also see ABB-free@home control devices and EV charger in connection with smart home systems on Samsung’s booth in Hall B, City Cube, stand 101.

Adalbert Neumann, CEO at Busch-Jaeger, explains, “Technology, design, and collaboration are enabling truly smart ways of living that are safe and sustainable. We’re here at IFA as we’re committed to offering customers scalable and convenient modern home solutions to meet the evolving needs of their lifestyle and those of the planet that make them feel at home.”

Visitors to the stand can experience decarbonization in practice through ABB’s Mission to Zero™ program, the scalable blueprint of smart building solutions combined with on-site renewable energy generation and storage using. ABB’s own facilities in China, Finland, Germany, Italy, and The Netherlands have already achieved carbon neutral status by using Mission to Zero technologies such as intelligent energy distribution, building automation, heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) control, battery solutions, motors, and switches. Mission to Zero offers cus- tomers a tangible solution for achieving their own carbon neutral goals.
