GREEN4SEA announced the winners of the 2017 GREEN4SEA Awards at a prestigious awards ceremony which took place for second year in succession at the Yacht Club of Greece on April 4th. The glittering event rewarded organizations that demonstrated outstanding performance within the scope of fostering Environmental Excellence & Sustainable Shipping.
Following an online nomination process that lasted till 24th of March, a total of 7 awards were given during the ceremony including the Technology Award that is given to the organization that provided a significant achievement in technology, breakthrough or significant contribution in any aspect of environmental maritime activity.
ABB received the GREEN4SEA Technology Award for providing Sea Water Cooling Pumps and Engine Room Ventilation Fans Variable Frequency Drives Upgrade, which are energy efficient solutions offering savings between 40% - 80%, mitigation of cavitation risk, reliability and extended lifetime. Other short-listed nominees for this category were: I-Tech AB, GAC EnvironHull, OceanSeaver and Thordon Bearings.
Presenting the award Mr. Nikolas Theodorou, Managing Director of Verifavia Shipping Hellas, on behalf of the sponsor stated:
