Katrin Foerster took over her duty as International Key Account Manager at ABB in 2012.
Her task is to have a special focus on how architects can be addressed and informed about ABB´s portfolio for the building industry.
To get connected to the architectural community Katrin is visiting architectural offices around the globe but is also looking for institutions, events, architectural awards and festivals where ABB can play a major role in supporting.
„We see this as one way to express our partnership with architects,“ Katrin states.
Dr. Yael Reisner, the Headline curator of this year´s TALLINN ARCHITECTURE BIENNALE and Katrin, who have known each other for years, met in Amsterdam at last year´s World Architecture Festival and discussed a potential collaboration of ABB and TAB 2019.
Today ABB is headline partner of TAB 2019, which is the biggest festival of it´s kind in the Baltics.
„Architects are the creators of our habitat and this is not going to change in the future“ Katrin says when asked about what ABB can offer to architects to fulfill new and complex demands on sustainable and environmentally positive design ,,but the tools architects work with and the technical equipment to be implemented in buildings, cities and our overall living space will change due to digital developments,“ says Katrin.
In her view smart techologies developed by ABB and their relevance to buildings and cities are now an important factor in the architectural design process and will be even more so in the future.
„To work on goals like <non carbon footprint>, <mission to zero> and <sustainable architecture>, building automation solutions will be standard tools because energy consumption as an example, can be significantly reduced only by automating the control of buildings,“ she adds. „But this certainly is not where smart building technology ends. Increasing comfort, health and safety of building inhabitants additionally are a strong momentum.“
ABB plays a role in the architectural community.
After TAB the main upcoming ABB engagements organised by Katrin are the ABB LEAF Awards 2019 in October in Berlin and the headline partnership for the World Architecture Festival 2019 in Amsterdam in December.
